An altered Radiant Frame becomes the summer sun shining on a trio of the Elegant Shorebirds today. Hi, Jean Okimoto here, with a bright outdoor scene under a brilliant sun. Wishful thinking, snowflakes and winter pastels just couldn't cool things off. Let's accept the heat and smoky skies ...and create a summer card to cheer things up!
Cut a portion of the Radiant Frame from yellow cardstock. Trim it with the 2-1/2" Circle Basics die. Cut off the remaining straight edge of the frame.
Attach adhesive label paper to flamingo-colored cardstock and diecut Elegant Shorebirds. The layer label paper adds a bit of dimension to the birds.
Cut Shizen Design Deckled Watercolor Paper with the 1-3/4" x 3" Rectangle Basics die - position the die to retain a short deckled edge.
Sponge worn lipstick, fossilized amber and a tiny amount of peeled paint Distress Oxides onto the watercolor paper. Blend the colors with a waterbrush, then heat-set the inks. The different colors settle randomly into the rough surface of the paper and create a shadowy, textured background.
Attach everything to a top-folded A-2 card of natural cardstock. Add gold gem stickers.
Big thanks to everyone from last weekend's SIMPLY ASIAN class at Impress! The Memory Box, Open Studio and Poppystamps collections have so many dies that are perfect for the Asian theme. If you love origami - the Square Basics set is a must for perfect folds. Rectangle Basics and Circle Basics are great for cutting those beautiful silkscreened artpapers in your stash too. Special thanks too - Ann, Shari and Erin - for filling our baskets with the tools and supplies we needed.
If you're in the Seattle area - join us for two AC-d classes at Impress on August 12th. It's PAPER PLEASE from 11:00-1:00 - using our favorite dies with the vibrant handmade cotton-fiber papers from Shizen Design. We'll be using the just-received rough-textured deckle-edge watercolor paper from Shizen Design too!
An added class - NEW MEMORY BOX CHRISTMAS COLLECTION CARDS - follows that from 2:00-4:00 on the 12th. Make 6 cards featuring the latest and greatest from Memory Box, Open Studio and Poppystamps. Lots of techniques, Distress Oxides, special folds, cutouts and glitter!
Thanks very much for stopping by - keep cool and carry on!
Love what you created with the dies! Thanks for the inspiration!!!

Jean, I love how you took the circle die to make a new look of the Radiant Frame. You're thinking is always "So Out of the Box" with things we already have!
