The beautiful Butterfly Swell is quickly becoming a new favorite - and it's easy to see why! Here is it, on a watercolored background diffused by pearlescent vellum. Hi, Jean Okimoto here with another way to use this great new die.
My watercolored paper stash included this colorful piece of spritzed, splashed and spotted inkiness. It was just waiting for the right die to come along!
Cut Butterfly Swell from a 3-¾" x 5-¾" rectangle of white cardstock. I shimmed some of the detailed areas with painter's tape. Cut three Butterfly Ensemble butterflies from pearlescent vellum.
Stamp the greeting with Memento Luxe Olive Grove and heat-set it.
Tape the vellum butterflies - slightly offset - behind the Butterfly Swell. Slip the watercolored background behind the top and bottom Butterfly Swell tabs. Attach it to an A-6 (4-⅝" x 6-¼") card of light gray cardstock.
Attach three butterfly centers of gold mirror cardstock cut with the die from the Morning Garden Butterflies set. Add pale pink gem stickers.
Butterfly weather will be here soon...you'll find so many ways to use Butterfly Swell and the coordinating Butterfly Ensemble and Morning Garden Butterflies sets. They're like basic ingredients in a recipe - literally waiting for new beginnings.
Special thanks to everyone from last week's RAINING CATS + DOGS class at Impress! Rain, cats and dogs are such a big deal here - it was time we featured them on our cards. We tried to keep the noise down, but probably laughed out loud more than ever that day. Thanks too - Ann, Shari and Erin - for finding the supplies we needed to create cards, cards and more cards!
See you all again at the GOING GREEN class on April 15th. We're making 6 cards in a spectrum of greens, with green themes and accents from my stash. I'll share paper recycling ideas too - like upcycling leftover prints into cool "where did you get that paper?" designs. Everyone gets a pack of stash extras too.
Thanks for stopping by...

Wow, beautiful card! The watercolour path behind the butterflies is an amazing focal point against the white. The vellum layer adds subtle beauty, the gold bodies add the extra pop. Thank you for sharing this beautiful, inspiring card today.
