Good morning! Sherry here with a light and easy monochromatic card featuring the Butterfly Swell die from the latest release.
The base card is from the Sky note cards pack. I experimented with a couple of different ink colors that would compliment the Sky card base, and found that Evergreen Bough Distress Ink worked perfectly. I love that the Butterfly Swell die can be positioned anywhere along the length of an A2 size piece of card stock. With that in mind, I positioned the die more to the right, leaving plenty of room on the left side for the sentiment. I decided to remove the right side of the swell to create a delicate butterfly border. The nice thing is that when the die is cut, an impression is left around the attached wings, so it was easy to fussy cut around the right wings by just following the impression.
One of my favorite techniques is to "smoosh" on a background, which is done by applying ink directly to a non-porous surface, spritzing with water, then picking up the diluted ink with a piece of flexible acetate ... or in my case I used a piece of the clear packaging that our dies come in. The ink on the clear packaging can then be transferred onto the white card stock, and by running a finger over the top of the packaging, the color spreads out underneath, creating a beautiful and unique background. I used the same Evergreen Bough ink for this technique. I inked up the sentiment in the same color and stamped where shown, and then adhered this piece to the front of the card with foam tape.
I next die cut the Potenza Butterfly Trio from white card stock, and covered the three butterflies solidly with Evergreen Bough ink. Then came the glitter. Do you ever buy a container of glitter just because the color looks yummy, yet you have no idea when you might ever use it? Well, I was lucky enough to find some glitter in my stash that was the perfect color to add to these butterfly centers and a bit outward. Love when that happens! I glued these newly adorned butterflies to the corresponding smooshed butterflies.
And you know what's coming ... bling! And once again, lucky for me, I had some very small colored sequins that added the final touch I was looking for. Hope you enjoy this card! Have a great week, and thank you so much for stopping by!

Gorgeous card! Excellent tutorial on the background technique, nice to know I am not the only one using leftover clear plastic cellophane packaging for art purposes, great idea I will remember this. Love the creative way you used the Butterfly Swell die, now I am interested in that die. Thank you for adding the Potenza Butterflies, now I know they will fit the Butterfly Swell die. I love butterflies, they are my favourite dies to buy and use. Thank you for the amazing creative inspiration today.
This card brightened my gloomy, snow day.
