Merry Christmas Eve
by Jenny Griffiths

Merry Christmas Eve everyone!

As my last Christmas card this season I wanted to share one of my favorites.  I have taught this card in a number of classes since August and it was said by many to be their favorite too.  Maybe it's simplicity and the stately scene make it so.

One of the best parts is the stacking of the tree boughs.  The gold with speckled boughts were created with a base of metallic gold paint on watercolor paper with metallic paint speckled over top.  Each color layer was throughly dried before the next color was added.  The Marvelous Pine Snow Branches was die cut from the painted panel and the boughs were laid out largest-to-smallest size onto the card.  Not all the boughs were used on the card and an extra benefit is that you can use the "negative" of the die cut gold panel for another card.  Each bough is layered with a tiny strip of dimensional foam tape at the top edge to give the tree nice dimension.

I added little touches of turquoise watercoloring on the card front before adding the stacked boughs and layering onto a mocha colored note card.  A bit of red embroidery floss made do as a holiday scarf on the deer.

My wish for each of you is a safe and cozy holiday with loved ones and anticipation for creative and inspiring things to come---because they are coming and you're going to love it all.

Merry Christmas Eve,
