by Jean Okimoto

Create a spooky Stitched Oval background with the beautiful Tanglewood Frame...why didn't I think of that sooner?  Hi, Jean Okimoto here, with an easy way to turn a favorite background die into an oval frame for the friendly ghost trio.

Cut Tanglewood Frame from black cardstock.  Cut the 4" tall Stitched Oval Layer from black cardstock - use the negative here, save the oval for another project.  Frame your favorite portion of the background by prepping the underside of the negative's rim with a tape runner, then attaching it over the Tanglewood background.

Cover the back  - and any exposed adhesive - with dark orange cardstock.  Place the 4.4" tall oval die over it and diecut  the three layers - the black frame, the Tanglewood diecut and the dark orange background.  You may need to shim it with the metal adapter plate and/or run it through the machine more than once.  The framed Tanglewood background is ready for the ghosts.

Attach adhesive label paper or a sticker sheet to white felt to stabilize it - then diecut Swirling Ghosts.  There'll be an extra ghost for another project.  Punch mouth-circles with a screwpunch or rotating leather punch.  Attach black cardstock scraps behind their eyes.

Cut the small spider from the Big and Small Spiders set from black glittered craft foam.

Attach striped washi tape to the bottom of a top-folded A-2 card of textured white cardstock.  Add green and orange sequins.

Imagine the possibilities!  We have so many Memory Box layers and frames to combine - creating even more ways to use the dies for backgrounds as simple - or as detailed - as you chose.

Special thanks to everyone from last Saturday's Halloween class!  Hope you liked the origami folds that opened into scary cards and a little treat basket - as well as the bright, colorful cards.  See you again this Saturday at the COOL WINTER WISHES class at Impress!

Brilliant. Love this card and I even have these dies!

Excellent background technique. Thank you for sharing the step by step to create the oval background, that is fantastic. I am going to use this in the future, I have to buy the oval dies first. The ghosts are cute. Thank you for sharing today.
