Happy Halloween
by Donna

Hi everyone!

Today is a hot and humid summer day, which is not my favorite type of weather.  It makes me miss the crisp, cool days of fall, which is what inspired today's Halloween-themed card.

FullSizeRender (95)

Let's begin. To create this card, die cut all the elements from watercolor paper.  To color the background oval, sponge Black Soot, Vintage Photo and Spiced Marmalade distress ink on the oval, and mist with water to blend the colors. When the piece is dry, spatter with watered-down white acrylic paint.  To color the Oval Forest Clearing Frame and the oval portion of the Harvest Pumpkin Oval Frame, sponge the die cuts with Black Soot distress ink.  Place the forest oval die cut over the prepared oval to position the ghosts and the moon. Stamp the moon and two ghosts using black pigment ink and emboss with clear embossing power.  Because distress ink was used for the background, you can use a paint brush and water to remove the color from the stamped images.  Once this is dry, you can use colored pencil to color in the images.

Use watercolors to color the pumpkins and card background.  The pumpkins faces were cut from licorice cardstock using the Jolly Jack O Lantern die, which you can glue onto the pumpkins. Cut the Grosgrain Ribbons from licorice cardstock and glue these to the watercolored background.  Assemble the rest of the card as shown. Stamp the Happy Halloween in the bottom right corner of the card.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Love this framed die, and the way you have coloured it is FANTASTIC!

Fantastic card! I Love it!!!

This is WONDERFULLLLLL! I love the effect the coloring gave this card. It has an old world feel to it, absolutely beautiful.

Love the scene, great background and colors!

Love all the details and different elements of your card it really has the feel of autumn thanks for sharing.

Absolutely love this card, Donna. It is just loaded with wonderful ideas, and I love the greyed palette for the focal point. How cool are those grosgrained ribbon dies?! It took careful inspection to see they were paper ribbons. I've saved a copy of this beauty because this year it will inspire wonderful things in my Halloween cards. Thanks for helping fill my creative "tank".

Finally remembered to check out your card. What a beautiful card! I love how you use the watercolors in your background on cards. Thank you for the inspiration.
