Bird Song
by Anne

At our monthly card-making group, my friend Connie shared a technique for card fronts that I want to pass along to you.  Start with a decorative paper in a 4" square and cut it on the diagonal.  Attach the two triangles to opposite corners of  an A2 notecard which leaves a band across the center.  This band will go from the top left to bottom right or top right to bottom left depending on the triangle placement.IMG_2840

The next step is to add whatever decorations you wish to the card front--die cuts, stamps, stickers, etc.  (You could also change this up a bit by placing the triangles on another piece of coordinating cardstock a bit smaller than the size of the card front before decorating the card.)

I chose to use two die cuts--the largest bird from BIRDS OF A FEATHER 30045 and the FANCY MUSIC BORDER 99408.  I cut my triangles from Memory Box Distressed Dots papers and used Memory Box notecards to create three cards.

To continue this month's challenge theme, I used watercolors on watercolor paper for my die cut birds.   I cut The Fancy Music Border from black cardstock and adhered it over the bird with tiny glue dots.  The only other embellishment is a small black gem for the bird's eye.   For the Key Lime notecard, I did add two white cardstock die cuts of the large bird layered under it as a shadow to give it a more distinct presence against the similar card and paper color.

Happy Crafting!

Really nice cards. What a good idea.

I have seen these cards a lot lately, I love your idea of overlaying the music strip that is so cool!
