Hello Crafty Friends,
Todays card features the adorable peas in a pod from The Garden Variety set and a fun patchwork background. I have to say, the pea pod and the corn on the cob are my favorites in the set---but the eggplant, potato, onion and the beet are pretty cute too---the whole set is a "must have" in my book. "Peas keep in touch" now that's kinda "punny". I used the four smallest rectangles from the Pinpoint Rectangle Layers Die set and cut them all from 4 different colors of card stock so I could mix-n-match the sizes and colors. That also leaves me with 3 more sets of die cuts to make more cards--I always try to make cards in multiples. After working the puzzle pieces to fit the card front (some had to be shortened at the bottom) everything was glued in place.
The pea pod was stamped with black waterproof ink and painted with Peerless watercolors . By the way, these watercolors are so easy to work with and the colors are beautiful. On this card I used olive green, light green and myrtle green. I love all the choices of greens in my set. Next...a little splattering of paint over the pea pod, let it dry then adhere off center over the patchwork background.
It's always nice to reach out to friends who have either moved away, retired from the workplace or are so busy but you want to stay in touch---this card lets them know you are thinking about them and want to stay connected.
Happy Father's Day on Sunday to all the Dads out there!
Love the patchwork background and the colours are perfect. The peas and sentiment always make me smile and the artful splatters just tie it altogether very clever.
