I'm Sorta in a Pickle
by Anne

My new IN A PICKLE clear stamp set CL5174 and coordinating dies set 32174 arrived just in time!   A few days ago I planted this year's seeds for two varieties of cucumbers in seedling trays in my greenhouse.  I really didn't expect that all 100 or so would germinate.  But they are sprouting up like crazy!  As much as I loved making pickles last year for the first time from just a few plants, I can't imagine how I'd cope with 100 or more cucumber plants in my garden!

I can definitely imagine sharing the bounty with friends, however.  And I made the cutest tags to attach to each six-pack of seedlings!

MATERIALS USED

  • IN A PICKLE CLEAR STAMP SET CL5174; IN A PICKLE DIE SET 32174
  • IN A PICKLE images stamped in Onyx Black VersaFine ink (This ink is perfect for use with watercolors.)
  • watercolor paints (I used Kuretake watercolors) on watercolor paper
  • Memento Markers in New Sprout, Bamboo Leaves, Cantaloupe, and Pear Tart for added details once the paint was dry and for the images stamped on Key Lime Distressed Dot Paper
  • Faber Castell Pitt pen in Silver for painting the jar covers
  • TAG YOU'RE IT SQUARES dies 30025, the medium and large sizes cut from Key Lime Distressed Dot Paper or white cardstock
  • STUDIO SQUARE LAYERS dies 30021...I used the two sizes (out of the 8 in the set) that fit perfectly with each tag size, cut from white cardstock or Key Lime Distressed Dots Paper
  • glue pen; tape runner
  • ribbon from my ribbon basket

Next on my list will be to make a set of recipe cards to go with the seedlings--more stamped, painted, and die cut images from the IN A PICKLE sets along with my favorite recipes from last summer for Bread and Butter refrigerator pickles and a simple recipe for freezer pickles.

And I couldn't resist creating a tag for a Father's Day gift for a friend who is "a really big dill"!

Just took out the last jar of freezer pickles from last summer to share with friends.  I'm actually looking forward, sorta, to being IN A PICKLE  later this summer!  Think I'm going to need a lot more tags to attach to pickle jars!!!

Now I want to hear from you!  Because this is the last post on our Blog Blitz, I'm reminding you to leave a comment, not just on this post but on all of them from the design team this week.  Every comment will enter you into a drawing to win one of the new stamp sets; and, if you win, you get to choose the stamp set you want.  How cool is that!!!  You have until midnight tonight to leave us comments.  On Saturday, June 4th, we will draw five random winners from the comments to win whatever new stamp set they each choose.  Good luck!

Happy Crafting!

This is a great set for fun cards as well as for vegetable growers!

A hundred cucumber plants! Yikes! You'll have to have a roadside stand. LOL Great idea to use the stamp set for jar tags and plant stakes. If you laminate the plant stakes you could probably use them out in the garden too.

Wonderful to share your pickle seeds. We grew cucumbers, they flowered & are still flowering but the cucumbers are not developing into anything substantial. Our tomatoes are doing great. Have a Bee-utiful day!
