Just a Little Thanks
by Anne
May is a month when I need a lot of thank you cards for my mom to send out--it's the month when we celebrate my mother's birthday (87 this year!), Mother's Day, and May Baskets. Thanks must be sent for the birthday cake baked by a neighbor, flowers that were shipped from her grandson and his wife in California, pansies to plant from her Secret Pal, and a May Basket overflowing with goodies from her church. I'll show you a couple of cards that will go out in the mail this week.
I wanted to use a stencil to create a watercolor background and chose the MODERN POSTAGE SET stencil no. 88605 because it has four distinct panels. I loosely secured the stencil to my work table with blue tape and brushed on paints from my Kuretake watercolor set.
SUMMERVILLE LANDSCAPE die no. 99466 takes center stage cut from Key Lime Distressed Dots paper. I used Violet Distressed Dots paper for the LITTLE THANKS die no. 98575 and added a little bird from the BIRDS OF A FEATHER die set no. 30045 cut from the Key Lime Distressed Dots paper. I finished the card by tying on some turquoise sheer ribbon.
The second card was constructed in the same manner, but I used the POSTAGE ASSEMBLAGE stencil no. 88606 to make the watercolored background.
I've had so many new dies to try out that I've been neglecting my stencil collection. So I decided to play with my stencils a lot this past week, adding details to pages in an altered book. Those pages have given me lots of inspiration to use stencils again in a variety of ways on the cards I make.
Happy Crafting!
