Hummingbird Card
by Donna

Good morning!

Since our May challenge is "For the Birds", I thought I would create a bird card for my post.

FullSizeRender (80)

To create the card front, I dry embossed watercolor paper using the "Blooming Chrysanthemum" die.  You can use any die cutting machine to do this technique, just follow the sandwich for embossing.  I also die cut the hummingbird from watercolor paper and used watercolors for both the card background and hummingbird.

I cut a 1" strip of vellum and white embossed the sentiment.  I attached the vellum on the back of the card front and adhered the card front to a white card base.  To finish up, I adedd sequins to embellish the card.

This is a relatively quick card.  Waiting for the paint to dry is probably the hardest part!

Thanks for stopping by today!

These stamps are really very beautiful.

That is absolutely beautiful. The painting is stunning. Thank you so much for sharing it with us and including details of the technique.

So beautiful

Your card is beautiful Donna!

What a beautiful card, love the watercolour effect and the colours are fabulous x

Beautiful coloring, especially of the bird!!!

Beautiful cardż,,,,,
Paper Hugs,

Very pretty Donna!

The painting of the bird shows a deft touch with watercolour, giving an impression but letting it do the work. The whole card is gorgeous!

WoW! This art card, is amazingly beautiful! So many fantastic details, the soft watercolour, embossed background. The jaw dropping gorgeous hummingbird, all from a die, not a stamp. Could you please share how you did the hummingbird, did you emboss it then draw in the details on the embossed lines, or watercolour first and then do the details on the embossed lines? I need to know the details of this fantastic hummingbird, they are one of my favorite birds.
Thank you for sharing this gorgeous, inspiring, art card!

Thanks for all the great comments!
Jacquelene, the hummingbird die embosses the wing lines, so once you add the watercolor the paint pools in the lines. Once it was dry, I did add black pen lines to define the wings.

A lovely card and love the effect of the die embossing and how pretty the water colour makes your card thanks for sharing.

Thank you Donna for your explanation of the gorgeous hummingbird. Now I know, next I need to get the die. Have a great weekend and Happy Mother's Day!
