Colorful Chrysanthemums
by Lindsay

Hello!

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I have a colorful spring card for you using a couple new dies. Chrysanthemum's come in a variety of colors, and I wanted to bring my favorite three of those onto my card!

DSC_0080

I started by die cutting the Chrysanthemum Bouquet from a variety of colored card stocks, along with white, and separating, and trimming the pieces. I adhered the white base die cut onto my card front, and began inserting my color pieces with a small dot of liquid glue, and my tweezers. I know it takes a bit of time, but it is relaxing, and it beats doing housework! I am always happy with how the inlaid die cut technique looks, making all that work, worth it.

DSC_0082

I chose to create depth within my inlaid die cut flowers, by using a light and a dark of each color, and adhering the green stem right over the white.

To finish my card, I used the Blooming Chrysanthemum die, using the butterflies, adhering them with foam tape. I added some glitter to them with a Zig Wink of Stella, and then coated them with Ranger Glossy Accents.

I hope you've enjoyed, and are inspired to create something with these new dies! They are so much fun, and there are so many things you can do with them. Have a great day!

Birthday Camelias
by Jenny Griffiths

Hello Crafty Friends!

Today's card shows that you can send flowers AND a card together using the new Plush flower dies.  I'm showing off the Plush Camelia, one of several new flower dies offered in the  Spring release, on this cheery birthday card.  Using combinations of colored felt,  it's easy to create a beautiful bouquet that's light enough to go on a card.

HB Felt Flowers

I die cut the center of the flowers from paper (didn't have any yellow or black felt) and used 2 layers.  Starting with the rolled paper stamens I applied a small dot of hot glue to the narrow end of a cut petal and pressed each one in place, beginning with the smallest to largest sizes.  Cut multiples of the petals to create fuller flowers.  For the leaves I die cut a few medium size petals from green felt, applied glue to the wide end of the petal, tucked in place and adhered the entire flower to the card--again, with hot glue.

I used 2 stitched oval dies to create the frame around the Zimmer Oval Background--which looks like a beautiful garden lattice.

Felt Flowers detail

A layer of mint green cardstock was adhered behind the lattice layer then the Happy Birthday sentiment (taken from the Stitched Happy Birthday Rectangle) was angled onto the lattice layer.  The smaller flower was made using only the smallest petals in the die set.   A squiggly black line was added to outline the card and finish it up.

Thank you for stopping by today, hope you are making a list of your favorite dies and bringing them home real soon!

English Rose Collage

Good morning everyone!  I hope your week has been off to a wonderful start.  I had a fun play yesterday with the new dies and pulled out some of my pan pastels and got busy.

Englishrose

This gorgeous die is called English Rose collage and I love the versatility of this one.  This die is meant to be a "negative" cut in the paper instead of a positive one.  I first colored up the front panel with blue, yellow and white pan pastels and blended them together.  The layering cardstock was also colored with yellow and light blue pan pastels to create more of a lime color.

Englishrose2

It's hard to see in the photos, but I spritz both panels with Ranger buttercup Mica Spray (previously known as perfect pearls).  I stamped a sentiment and then added some flat backed glass beads for the flower centers.

Englishrose3

I adhered with foam dots to give some dimension on the card.

While I had all of my stuff out and had already made a mess, I just continued playing to make a second card.

Englishrose4

This time I used the English Rose Collage die cut as a stencil.  I place the "stencil" over top of my mixed media paper and used pan pastels to create different colors throughout the stencil.  I then used translucent paste (matte) over top of the stencil and pan pastels to create dimension but also to seal the pan pastels.  The paste in the pictures isn't completely dry, but it was still workable to put on a card.  When completely dry, the milkiness of the paste will disappear.

Englishrose5

I spritz the panel with prima mica sprays for some glimmer and a touch of color.  I think next time I do this technique, I will spritz the paper first to have a more even coverage of the color and then do the pan pastels and paste with the stencil.

That's it for me today.  I hope the rest of your week is wonderfully creative and thanks for stopping by for a visit.

Oval Window Branches
by Anne

The GRACEFUL OVAL BRANCH die no. 99465 is the focal point for today's cards.  It creates such a lovely silhouette when placed over a watercolored background.

IMG_2658

And I couldn't resist adding one of the BUSY SQUIRRELS from die no. 99394!

I die cut the Graceful Branch Oval twice, once from gold cardstock with a wide border and once from a dark brown cardstock with a narrower border.  By offsetting them a bit, there's a lovely gold layer that peeks out from behind the dark brown.  The watercolor panel was one I had made previously.  (I think I've probably said before that I keep a stack of already painted watercolor papers handy.)  I used foam tape to place the dark brown layer over the others for more dimension and to create interesting shadows.  Everything is layered onto a white notecard.  I cut a small slit in the top fold of the card and threaded a coordinating ribbon through and tied it in a bow.  I cut the squirrel from a piece of kraft cardstock and sponged it with a little Hero Arts Cup O' Joe ink before pop-dotting it on.

IMG_2661

On this second card, I placed the Graceful Branch Oval directly on top of the watercolored piece, added one of the PLAYFUL SQUIRRELS from die no. 99382, and tied on a green ribbon in the same manner as before.  Two cards done quite quickly!

Happy Crafting!

PS....the winners of the blog blitz prizes will be announced later in the afternoon, so check back later for the results.

Felt Possibilities
by Penny

Felt-Possibilities

Hello Memory Box fans. Penny here today with more goodies from the new collection. Felt projects are all the rage right now and Memory Box delivers with so many new dies just perfect for that soft pliable fabric. One pass through my diecutting machine and I have Felt flowers to play with.

Let's get started:

Begin with a Medium Gray card stock. Die cut a Light Gray card stock with Honeycomb Collage and trim just a bit on one long side to give a little contrast at the bottom of the card.

Die cut the Plush Gardenia from three different colors of Felt. As this was my first time playing, not sure that I made them right, but I was still happy with the result of the flowers, so I just went with it. Start with the smallest petal, squish between fingers, add hot glue and adhere to the center of the next largest petal. Repeat steps for next largest petal.

Die cut Pointed Leaf from vellum two times. Arrange on card front as desired and adhere, then adhere flowers.

Felt-Possibilities-sneak

Stamp New Possibilities onto a scrap of Peach card stock using VersaFine Onyx Black ink, trim and notch one end, then adhere under flowers.

Add sequins as desired.

So my Felt flowers do not look like the example on the Memory Box packaging....I will work on that!  :)

Up up & Away
by Penny

Proud of you

Hi Memory Box friends. Penny here today reviving an older set from this past Fall release. Mr. Memory Box comes out with so many new dies and stamps that I never got a chance to play with this adorable set while I was busy making card with leaves and pumpkins. I thought it would be fun to do a "dig through my stash" and give a little love to an older set.

Let's do this:

Starting with white card stock, I masked the area with a torn piece of printer paper to ink the "clouds" background with VersaMagic Aspen Mist.

Die cut the curve with Curved Dashing.

Attach this panel to an Orange panel that has been embossed with a Wave folder.

Proud-of-you-sneak

Stamp and die cut the balloons, clouds, airplane and sentiment from white card stock using the Flying High set. Color them as desired and adhere to card front as shown.

The die cut clouds have been lathered with White Amplify!, then heat set to make the product "puff".

These tiny balloons are fun, but have you seen the larger Hot Air Balloons Memory Box came out with this month. Gorgeous!!!

Thanks so much for flying by today. Make sure to show us your creations on our Facebook page.

Happy Crafting,

Watercolor Sprigs
by Lindsay

Happy Friday!

Spring is finally here in Northeastern Ohio, and I couldn't be more happy about that! I just love seeing the green peeking from the dirt, and the flowers coming through to meet the sun. I know I use watercolors a lot for my projects, but I love the effect, and the freedom they give me. I used them here for my Spring card, today.

DSC_0073

I started by using the Adelaide Stem die, running it through my Big Shot with water color paper. I then took Peerless watercolors, and colored them in. As they were drying, I created a wash of blue onto a piece of watercolor paper. I let it dry, and then ran it through my die cut machine in between paper to flatten it out.

DSC_0074

I adhered a little strip of black and white patterned paper to the side of my panel, adhered the flower stem, and then ran the Happy Birthday Tiles die through, only using the Happy and Day words for my project. To finish it off, I adhered a few black pearls.

Thank you so much for joining me today. Have a great one!

Elegant Jellyfish
by Donna

Good morning and welcome to week two of the Memory Box Spring Blog Blitz!

The weather is finally getting warmer and reminds me of lazy summer days at the beach.  The Elegant Jellyfish die is a perfect fit for a quick and easy summer card.

IMG_1954

To create this card begin with a piece of watercolor paper for the card front.  Paint the center of the paper with watercolors.  Spatter with watercolor paint and dry paper completely before stamping the sentiment.  Adhere the card front to a Kraft cardstock card layer and glue that to a White card base.

Die cut the Elegant Jellyfish from watercolor paper and paint it with watercolors. When the jellyfish is dry, ink it with Versamark Ink pad and emboss using clear embossing powder.  Adhere the jellyfish to the card front with foam adhesive.  To finish the card glue glass dew drops to the card front.

Grand Voyage Balloon
by Melissa Rusk

Welcome back to another day in our Blog Blitz! This Spring release is filled with so much good stuff, it was hard to pick what to share today. As a kid I loved the yearly hot air balloon festival our town had. When I saw the Grand Voyage Balloon I knew that I had to make some cards!

IMG_8797wm

For the background, I did a simple wash of blue watercolor to create the sky. To make the puffy clouds, I took white embossing paste on my pallet knife and formed it in different shapes. They add so much dimension to the sky, so fun.

IMG_8798wm

I die cut the Grand Voyage Balloon and the Zig Zag Stripes in the Memory Box Distressed Dots paper in the colors bubblegum, mango and pool. Finally, I cut the Pennant Garland in white and used my clear Wink of Stella pen to add some sparkle.

Now is your chance to win! Leave a comment on the post by Sunday, April 17th at 11:59 pm EST to win the Grand Voyage Balloon die. Winners will be announced on the Outside the Box blog on Monday, April 18th! Good luck and have a fabulous day!
