Bunny Bag by Jenny Griffiths
Hello Crafty Friends,
Today I'm sharing a different approach to the traditional easter basket ---this "Bunny Bag" is a gift to my grandkids and friends this year. It's the perfect packaging for my usual batch of "Bunny Bait". Ever heard of it? I'll include the recipe below.
I created the Easter scene by die cutting the pieces from felt then hand stitching around the edges and leaves. I left the top of the pink zig-zag layer open so a name tag or small gift could be tucked inside.
Once complete, I used double sided tape to attach the felt egg to the paper bag, tied a bow to the handle and added another felt flower. If the bag doesn't hold up under heavy use (hunting eggs) then the felt egg can be removed and saved. A bunch of candy eggs or a chocolate bunny will fit perfectly inside (I know, I tried it out).
But I know the kids will be looking for their favorite treat...."Bunny Bait" and here's the recipe, as promised:
Bunny Bait
1 bag popcorn, popped (I used Tender White)
6 oz. white chocolate candy coating
1 bag Easter M&Ms
pretzel sticks, broken into small pieces
colorful sprinkles, if desired
Place the popped popcorn in a large bowl with the broken up pretzels and M&Ms. Heat the candy coating in the microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring after each time, until melted and smooth.
Drizzle the candy coating over the popcorn mixture and stir to coat. The pretzels and M&Ms will sink to the bottom, so make sure to get those stirred in and coated with the rest of the popcorn.
Spread out on a large piece of wax paper, top with a few sprinkles (if desired) and let cool. Break into pieces and serve in a large bowl.
It's always nice to create a special handmade bag or container for any treat or occasion---I hope they like this one!
As always, thank you for stopping by today--hope you try out the dies and felt together.
