Devotion Heart and the Floral Breeze
by Jean Okimoto

Let pretty hearts and flowers - like the new Devotion Heart and Floral Breeze - warm this chilly winter weekend.  Hi there, Jean Okimoto here, with a layered, collage-y design for you today.  It's been a while since I've watercolored the Blooming Sketch Border - here it is, delicately framed by the Devotion Heart and floating over the Floral Breeze background.

Cut a Stitched Heart Layer from watercolor paper and sponge it with Memento Angel Pink.  Stamp Sky Writing with Brilliance Pearlescent Thyme.  Dry the ink, then stamp Blooming Sketch Border with VersaMark.  Emboss it with detail white power.  Paint it with Peerless Watercolors.

Attach several strips of Scor-Tape behind a scrap of watercolor paper and cut Devotion Heart.  Layer it over the stamped heart.

Cut Floral Breeze from pink cardstock.  Place the 4" Stitched Square Layer over it, secure it with removable tape, and cut the square.  Attach everything to a top-folded 5-½" square card of white cardstock.  Attach small iridescent sequins.

I love being combining something "old" with something new - even if the "old" was introduced just a few months ago.  Time flies so quickly now - Valentine's Day is less than a month away!

Hope you like today's design and the variations you can create using different sections of the beautiful Blooming Sketch Border.

It'll be a busy weekend at Impress.  Stop by today for their annual Valentine event and enjoy the beautiful displays and samples.  Take your Memory Box wishlist with you - here's a link to our site.    Join us for the So Many Hearts class tomorrow - we'll make 5 Valentine cards for the special people in your life.  Lots of diecuts, glitter and sequins - and a sweet and simple origami heart too. Thanks for stopping by!

Both cards are very pretty....love the devotion heart. The second card would be so nice for a guy...always a struggle for me to not make them too girly. Great post today and thank you.

LOVE this gorgeous card with the devotion heart and love the second one with those squares. I am totally addicted to these dies and the results they produce. x

Fabulous layouts for these heart cards - lovely work TFS

Beautiful cards, Jean! Wish I could be up at the store today!

Love the combination of dies on the first card. I like the old mixing with the new too. The class card is so pretty.

Great looking cards, Jean!

Thanks Jan - try diecutting Devotion Heart from gold mirror cardstock - it'll look like a very special pendant!

Thanks Ann. There are so many ways to use Devotion Heart (and all of our dies!) - see you again on Wednesday!

Thanks Gail - more hearts coming on Wednesday!

Thanks Sherry - it was a busy Sunday at Impress - everyone was looking for Memory Box dies!

Thanks Alison - I love combining old+new so we can all get the most from our favorite designs!
