One of my favorite stamp sets from the latest release was the "Santa Paws" set. It was loaded with cute dogs, snowy elements, and fun holiday sayings. Even though Christmas is over, I still wanted to use the set. I know so many "dog" people that would like cute canine images on their cards year-round.
For today's card, I started with the Grand Happy Birthday die. I have used this die with balloons, cakes, butterflies, flowers, and now dogs. It makes personalizing a birthday card so easy. I felt like the dogs needed party hats and noticed the Santa Paws set had trees in it that could be converted to hats.
Here are the trees:
I added colorful stripes with colored pencils.
Once I cut out the tops of the trees, I put my "hats" on the dogs. At the top of each hat, I added a rhinestone.
For the dachshund, I colored him with E31, E34, and E37 Copic markers:
The second little dog looked like an English Bulldog to me, so I colored him with W00, W1, W2, R20, and R00 Copic markers. The bone comes in that same stamp set, and I colored it with C1 and C3 Copic markers. I finished it by adding a bow:
I hope you are inspired to use elements from seasonal stamp sets all through the year!
Adorable card Laura. Those hats are a brilliant idea!
