Gathering the Greens
by Anne Thompson

Welcome to the first day of the Blog Blitz featuring the Winter 2015 Collection from Memory Box!  Scroll down if you missed the first post today by our newest Design Team member Penny Ward.  Welcome, Penny!  And remember to check the blog twice a day for posts all week and leave us comments--you could win a prize!!!

While cleaning out the garage recently, my dad and I found the sleds we had each used as children.  So when I saw the sled dies in this newest release, I knew I had to have them.

I have fond memories of going into our woods with my dad, sled and toboggan in tow, to select Christmas trees (one for inside the house and one for the birds and animals outside) and to gather boughs for making wreaths.

Here I've created a card that showcases those memories.  It features the SMALL WINTER SLED die no. 99290.  I stacked the sled with a pile of trees stamped in Hero Arts Forever Green ink on olive cardstock using the tree stamps from the new SANTA PAWS clear polymer stamps set no. CL5162 and the coordinating dies from the SANTA PAWS DIE SET no. 32162.  I added thin strips of brown cardstock for tree trunks to those trees and stacked the finished trees on the sled with small foam dots.

I used the BEADED BACKGROUND die no. 99132 cut from blue cardstock and mounted on a white piece of cardstock the same size.  I adhered this to a piece of Blueberry Distressed Dots paper and then added this background to a white notecard.  I placed the tree-filled sled near the bottom of the background piece and added more trees toward the top, stamped and die cut using the Santa Paws stamps and dies.  I finished the card by adding LITTLE DEER die no. 99304.

A look at the finished card:

Would you like to win the SMALL WINTER SLED die?  Please leave a comment for me on this blog post by Sunday, October 11 (11:59 pm EST) for your chance to win!  A winner will be selected at random from the comments to win this die.  And don't forget to visit the Outside the Box blog often during the blitz for more inspiration and more chances to win some of the new products.  Good luck!!!

Happy Crafting!!!

Great idea with the background (using the beaded background die), it does look like snow and I love the effect with the polka dot paper on the card!

Berautiful card and such a great idea with the sledge and the trees together. Well done, it looks great.

Lovely card Anne, a nice way to bring back those old memories : )

Cute card, Anne! Would I love to win the sled die? You betcha!!! Thanks for the inspiration:)

Cute card, thanks for sharing it with us.

I love that sled die! And so cute with the twine handle. The color of blue used really makes those green trees op!

Sleds bring back happy memories for me, too. I would love to use that new die on some cards this year!

what a great way to do snow--and I love the sled--just like one I had!!

Love the sled it reminds me of when we went sledding.

Totally love your card with the small sled loaded with pine trees. I have so many awesome memories of using that old style sled to scoot down a hill on the farm. I have been looking for a front-view vintage sled die for 2 years! I'm so excited that MB has answered the call and come up with both a small and large sled. Thanks for the inspiring card using these fun new dies!

Thanks for sharing such a sweet card!

Sw sweet Anne. The sheen in the bg really looks like a wintry day! The sled is adorable, would love to win this!

What an adorable scene that you created!!! Great use of the sled and LOVE that deer!

This little sled die is the cutest thing! I have a lot of possible scenarios in mind which can incorporate the sled. This little die will definitely find itself in my MB collection!

As much as I love MB dies, I love the cardstock, too....great quality, nice weight and very affordable. Thank goodness my LSS keeps it in stock.
