Hello Crafty Friends!
I can't stop making these fun, felt ornaments using the new Memory Box Winter dies. I love needlework and these dies work beautifully with, among other things, felt. You won't believe how easily the dies cut into the felt---like butter! Take a look at all the fun I've been having...
The stitching was done with embroidery thread and it's super easy, why? Because the die actually cuts the stitching holes for you! It takes all the guesswork out of where to place the threaded needle and the spacing. Thank you Memory Box....you're making it easy for us!
This is one of my favorites--the Plush Mitten. To create a hanging tree ownament as shown, just stitch a ribbon loop to the top so it hangs on a branch. How fun would it be to add pine scented oil to the cotton batting used to stuff the ornaments. Since I didn't have any batting I just added cotton balls--easy peasy!
And... one more. A pretty snowflake stocking. These would be easy to customize --just add die cut felt letters (alphabet dies). These would also make a pretty gift tag on a special gift bag or box.
Can I tell you a little secret? I experimented with other fabrics (muslin, cotton, flannel etc) but then I picked up a roll of white bamboo paper towels (a great find from my visit to the county fair this summer) and it cuts like a dream. If you're familiar with bamboo paper towels, you know they are touted as reusable because they are so durable. The best results came from wool or wool-blend felt but check your craft room stashes for other options.
Now I'm off to make more! Next up...the snowmen!
Great use of these dies. Such cute inspiration. Will really be making some of these for the family this year! x

Your ornaments are so pretty....just love them. I like using alternative materials. I've never heard of bamboo paper towels...sounds interesting. Will keep my eyes open for them.

These are just the cutest and having the stitching lines already would make it go even faster. Thanks for the tip about the bamboo paper towels, I have found that wool felt is the best to cut with dies through my experimenting too.
