Pretty Poinsettia
by Jenny Griffiths

Hello Friends!

My last post helped bring on a cooling trend in our weather- I'm sure that caused it.  Now the heat and humidity has returned so you know what I have to do...share another Christmas card to bring the cooler temperatures back again.  I kid myself.

Today, I bring you the Pretty Poinsettia.

Jenny1

A fun detail on this card is the pink velvet petals pieced into the flower.  After die cutting the poinsettia in white, I cut a small square of  pink velvet paper  (just large enough to cover the petal area) and die cut again using the velvet paper.  I also die cut the ribbon portion of the die in black card stock, overlaid it and adhered onto the white layer.  Careful trimming where the black ribbon meets the white petal outline is necessary.

I love how the lines on the petals are visible even on the velvet paper--nice detail Memory Box!

The word "merry" was die cut from white card stock covered with a double sided adhesive sheet.  Be sure to place the die on the adhesive liner side insuring that the sticky adhesive will be on the front of "merry".  Remove the liner, apply chunky glitter then fine glitter to fill in around the chunky glitter pieces.  Apply adhesive to the reverse side of "merry" and position on your card.

I also added white dots (using a gel pen), and several pearls.  Since the design of this card is not complex it's perfect to add all the textures ---velvet, glitter and pearls!

Now for a look at the inside...

 Yes, more pearls inside too.

I hope this card inspires you to start your Christmas cards and inspires the weather to cool down too!

As always, we appreciate your visit here today

Happy Friday! Jennysig

So pretty and I love the velvet paper...is that the same as suede paper? I use suede paper a lot...it cuts and embosses so nicely. The poinsettia ribbon die is so awesome...always gets my attention....I will have it this holiday season. LOL Thanks for an inspiring card.

Beautiful, love the colors together and just as pretty inside as the outside of the card!

This is a beautiful card! You did an awesome job with the colors and texture. I like everything about the card. TFS.

Pretty card, Jenny. Just love the glitter used on the sentiment!

Thanks Jan...yes, you can interchange velvet paper and suede paper--both give the same result. Hope you enjoy your Poinsettia Ribbon die!

You always offer the sweetest comments, Connie--thanks for stopping by today

Wow! That's high praise Juanita! So glad you enjoyed this card!

Thank you Debbie...as a "glitter-aholic: I try to bring it into my card creations whenever I can. I love sequins too! Glad you stopped by today!
