Gatefold Cards

I've been experimenting with gatefold cards lately and looking for interesting ways to use Memory Box dies on the two front panels.  This last week I stumbled across Betsy Veldman's blog post about cutting dies in half and I just had to try that out with a bunch of dies and the gatefold card bases.  Here are three of my favorites.

First card: WOODLAND OVAL die no. 99185; FOREST CROWS die no. 99197

I cut three Forest Crows and two of the Woodland Oval, cutting one of the ovals in half before adhering it to the two front flaps on the card.  I put the second oval inside.  I then added Forest Crows on each of the flaps, staggering them a bit and making sure that one of the crows overlapped the flap on the left.  For the inside, I cut the crows off the branch and let them fly.  I used a piece of ribbon to tie the card closed.

Second Card: TANGLEWOOD FRAME die no. 99009 glued (used a glue pen) to the closed card front and then cut in half (this design was too detailed to cut before adhering); TRUMPET VINE die no. 99075 andSKETCHBOOK LOVE die no. 99239 for the inside of the card

Third card:  SPLASHING PUDDLES die no. 99062 and two small STITCHED CLOUDS die no. 30053 for the font panels; more STITCHED CLOUDS, a 1 1/2" punched circle, and a stamped sentiment usingHOPE IN YOUR HEART B2058/CS2058B.

What fun!  I've got a pile of other dies set aside for this technique of halving the die cut.  Some I will try on gatefold cards and others I will use on card fronts in what I hope will be interesting ways.

Happy crafting!

love all of them , expecially the first card.

Great cards. So many uses. Thanks for all the details.

Thanks for the terrific gatefold tutorial, Anne!I am going to try this technique soon!

Great cards. I love a fairly new product called Stick It to adhere my really detailed die cuts. There's a You Tube video on it. It's micro thin and repositionable...check it out. Fortunately, my LSS keeps it in stock, but a package goes a long way.

P.S. Stick It is especially good for the word dies particularly if you like to cut several and adhere them together for a really thick word die cut.

Thanks, Jan. I've heard of this but haven't seem any locally. I'll look for it online. Anne

Great technique. I have some of these dies and will try it. Thanks. Edna

Love the delicate look of these cards and fun gate fold! The one with Tanglewood Frame is my favorite!

Anne... beautiful cards. Thank you so much for the new ideas...

Wowza...BeYOUtiful!!! I LOVE the way you made them into gate fold cards. Awesome dies! Well done!!!
