Watercolor Fluttering

Good Morning,  Marnie here with a bright Spring card today.  I adore this new stamp Fluttering CS2210G I could not wait to watercolor it.  I stamped it with StazOn Cloudy Sky Ink by Imagine Crafts on watercolor paper by Strathmore.  I like the weight of the 400 series best for card making it makes it easy to flatten the piece to attach to the card.  The water coloring was done with a little palette set by Angora.   After the card was complete and dry I misted it with Imagine Crafts Shimmer Spritz in Sparkle all over the entire piece (which is really hard to see in the picture but super cool in person).  And then a little Stickles to each body to make it stand out even more..  Finally I added the word FLY with Alphabet Soup Uppercase 99154 out of yellow cardstock.  Everything was layered onto a purple paper.

I love how bright and vibrant it turned out!  Makes me happy!  Especially this time of year when it's sometimes rainy sometimes sunny.  Hope you like it!  Thank you so much for stopping by today!  Have a Wonderful Day!

Follow Your Bliss...the Reverse Butterfly Collage

MemoryBoxReverseButterflyCollage-MemoryBoxFollowYourBliss-MemoryBoxDarlaButterfly-MemoryBoxIsabellaButterfly-OpenStudioStitchedRectangleLayers-JeanOkimoto-DelicataGoldenGlitrzHello, hope spring has arrived in your city!  Jean Okimoto here today  - we can't decide whether it's winter or spring in Seattle - so I'm skipping ahead to summer with a bright butterfly card.

Everyone loves  the beautiful card that Dave Brethauer designed to introduce the Spring 2015 Collection..  I'll admit that I loved his watercolored, layered design so much I just copied it!

Here's Dave's original design...isn't it beautiful?

Reverse-butterfly-collageMemory Box Products

  • NEW Reverse Butterfly Collage Die 99145
  • Open Studio Stitched Rectangle Layers Die Set 30009
  • Darla Butterfly Die 98264
  • Isabella Butterfly Die 98507
  • NEW  Follow Your Bliss Stamp B2060

Delicata Golden Glitz Inkpad

Brush water onto watercolor paper and paint it with Peerless Watercolors.  Air-dry it for about 5 minutes while the colors mix and mingle - then press it with a dry iron on the cotton setting.  Cut Reverse Butterfly Collage from textured white cardstock.

Here's a tip - attach the diecut layer to the watercolored paper - then cut both of them at once with the Stitched Rectangle Layer.  Everything lines up perfectly and you have nice, neat edges.

Another time-saving tip - attach Scor-Tape behind gold mirror cardstock, then cut the antennae.  Cut the Darla and Isabella Butterflies from glassine (or a glassine envelope) - and use the adhesive-backed antennae to attach the butterflies to the background.

Stamp Follow Your Bliss with Golden Glitz.

Please visit our Ideas Gallery for details, supply lists - and more spring designs.

Special thanks to everyone who took my His and Hers class at Impress!  Hope you enjoyed creating cards featuring the Spring Release as much as I did designing them for you.

Thanks for stopping by - see you again this evening!

Spring Forest Archway...

Hi everyone! Pam here... The NEW Archway Forest dies...so neat! When I first saw them, I knew, I had to have them for scenes!  : )   Then I decided I had to make them up for Spring!

My next idea was to inlay the NEW Small Forest Archway die so I could stamp over the top of it!  Awesome, right?!  Don't you love it?! I do!  You have to try it!

Photos just don't do it justice!

The stamp I used is the NEW Happiness stamp.

I die cut the NEW Grand Forest Archway diepopped it up by just putting mounting squares, that I cut in half on the tree trunks, top to bottom.

Die cut and shape the flowers from the Blooming Border die and glue them on here and there for the blooms on the trees.

Yes, it had to have a butterfly! I die cut and shaped with my fingers, the smallest butterfly from the Leavenworth Butterfly Trio die.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today!  Thank you so much for your encouraging comments, they are always appreciated!

ROW OF POPPIES card for every month of the year!

I just LOVE LOVE LOVE the new ROW OF POPPIES die no. 99137:

The other day I started cutting out lots of them in a variety of papers.  Then I cut other dies to coordinate with them:  STITCHED CLOUDS no. 30053 and MINI PERFECT PATCHES no. 99162 and BEADED BACKGROUND no. 99132.

30053 99162 99132

The next step was to get some blank cards and start playing around with various combinations.  At that point I knew I needed to add some stencil backgrounds for a few of the poppies:  SPRINKLE DOTS no. 88597.  (For one card I used HEART CONFETTI no. 88588 from the 2015 winter collection which seems to be no longer in the catalog.  You could easily substitute one of the other hearts stencils.)

Once I had some cards made, I started looking through the new stamps to find suitable sentiments.  What I realized at that point was that the months of the year from WELL PLANNED CL5155 would be perfect!

And here are the finished cards for eight of the months!  (I still have to finish June, August, September, and December for a complete set.)

A set of these with stamped envelopes would make a great Christmas gift.  Now I just need to figure out how to make a little box for them all!

Happy crafting!

Fluttering By

Good morning everyone!  I hope you've been enjoying your weekend and playing around with your collection of Memory Box products:)

I'm loving the new release and the stamps are just wonderful and oh so versatile.

Love love love this new butterfly stamped called Fluttering.  I pulled out my Copic markers and Copic refills.  I colored up the butterflies with the markers and the background was created using the refill inks.

The inside was stamped with just a portion of the stamp.  The sentiment is also from the new release and is called Happiness.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Summer Themed Card

FullSizeRender (20)

Good Morning Everyone!

I hope you all enjoyed the Blog Blitz last week and were inspired by the awesome projects. And congratulations to those who were lucky enough to win some of those new products!

Today's card is featuring some more great products from the 2015 Spring Release. I used one of the dies from the Open Studio Distressed Baptisia Collage Die set, and die cut it twice using watercolor paper. I sponged various colors of Distress Ink on the die cut piece and misted it with water. Spatter another piece of watercolor paper with diluted Distress Inks for the card background. The Sketchy Rings were die cut from Kraft Cardstock and inked with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.  Die cut the Swimming Seahorses from Jack-O-Lantern Cardstock and ink the edges using Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.   For the sentiment, ink only a portion of one of the sayings from the Open Studio Smile stamp set.

Memory Box Products used:

  • Open Studio Smile Clear Stamp Set #CL5152
  • Open Studio Distressed Baptisia Collage Die Set #30044
  • Sketchy Rings Die #99149
  • Swimming Seahorses Die #99115
  • Jack O Lantern, Pool and Kraft Cardstock

Have a great day and thank's for stopping by!

Deer Friend

Good Morning Crafty Friends!

Have you seen all the new Memory Box stamps, dies and stencils?  Woo Hoo, they are spectacular!  Last week we had a fun blog blitz (scroll back to see it if you missed it) and congrats to all the daily winners.

Today I am featuring the Happy Fawn --he's got a lot of personality and there is a perfect sentiment from Poppy Stamps for a friendship card...."you are a deer friend".

Happy Fawn_JennyGriffiths

I watercolored this little fawn and the Blooming Leaf Border using ordinary "hard cake" watercolors---just add water!  I like using a #3 round brush and I "paint" plain water in my path before adding the actual color.  I find the color travels and blends well this way.  I created the ground he is standing on with watered down black watercolor paint... just scribble the color around his hooves and stretch it out towards the edge of the card.

WC Fawn_Jenny GriffithsI also used one of my favorite dies, Stitched Rectangle Layers from the Open Studio collection--it's extremely versatile and the stitched detail is clever, don't you think?

I have met so many wonderful people in this crafty world and many become dear friends, this card is for you all!

Happy Friday!
