Steampunk Inspiration

Hi everyone.  Laura here.  Today I am showing you a project that Dave Brethauer, the owner of Memory Box created.  It is a great way to color the Steampunk Corner die (99084) using an assortment of alcohol inks.  Here is a peek of the finished aged look of the gears:

And a further away view:

For the gears, Dave cut them out from shimmery cardstock and then dripped various colors of alcohol inks on top of the die cut before letting it dry completely.  Here are the colors Dave used for the project.  He used Copic refills, but really, and alcohol ink will work:

For the background, Dave used regular cardstock and dripped alcohol ink on top and let the colors blend with each other.

Keep adding colors and letting them blend

If you don't want to color the gears, you can cut them out of metallic paper.  They are particularly great for masculine cards.

I hope you enjoyed seeing Dave's work as much as I did.  I am definitely inspired to give his techniques a try.

Wow!! These look amazing!

Love the alcohol inks look and the die-cut is so beautiful! Gorgeous card.

Trop jolie! J'adore! Bises

Love those colors on the gears and neat layering too!

Wonderful card, these colors are to die for and I LOVE every aspect of it. I am always happy to see masculine cards because they are so difficult. This one is GREAT, not boring and can be used for anyone with many great sentiments. TFS
