Have (another Half) A Heart

Sometimes I see a Memory Box die in a new release and I know I want it without knowing how I will use it.  The Half a Heart die no. 99130 was like that for me.  I hope you'll like what I came up with, a fairly simple technique for adding dimension to a card front.

I started with a plain white notecard, lining up the die on the fold before running it through my die-cutting machine.  (You could use a piece of white cardstock scored and folded in half.)

Then I trimmed it to 1 1/2" wide from the fold.  (I saved the extra white cardstock to use for another project or two.)

When I unfolded it, I had the perfect form I was hoping for!

I centered this on the front of a Memory Box Holly Berry notecard and added some red and white polka dot paper on either side.  For an additional element, I added Beloved Hearts die no. 99102 cut from a scrap of a Holly Berry notecard, accented the center of the bow with a pearl, and added an extra heart also from Beloved Hearts.

I made several more cards using the same technique to create the white popping hearts center for the card fronts.  Then I cut the die again on the fold of more Holly Berry notecard stock, setting it further over the fold to actually cut the hearts out.  I used those as centers for the white hearts.  For this next card I used a large gingham check on either side of the center hearts and added Beloved Hearts cuts from Memory Box Cranberry Gingham patterned paper.

Valentines Day is coming soon and I've now got cards ready to send to friends and family.  I've even ordered my chocolate from Birch Press Design, a new Memory Box enterprise.

Happy Crafting!
