Fairyland Butterflies
Good Morning Crafty Friends~
Ready for the weekend? Before it starts, I have this colorful Fairyland Butterflies card to share with you. When I saw the new 2015 collection for the first time, this die stood out as my definite favorite.
The front of the white note card is die cut with the Fairyland Butterflies die, backed with blue patterned paper, fitted and layered with the same die from black paper, then cut along the right side of the butterfies giving it a "cut lace" effect.
Bluebird Distressed Dot paper is adhered inside of the card and will be embellished also. When the card is closed you might not notice the cut edges because it lays over the blue patterned paper. When opened, the front of the card looks like this:
Now, I'm not going to fib, the paper piecing on this card took some time and careful tweezer action. Each piece of colored cardstock on the butterflies was inlaid into the black outline. Sometimes I'm in the mood to create an intricate card like this one and enjoy the process.
To make a quicker card, simply back the butterflies with a single color of patterned paper which will show through the delicate die cut openings as in this version: (you will still need to create the 'cut lace' effect by cutting around the right side of the butterflies)
The inside of the card features the Surely Stitched Circle, Leavenworth Butterfly Trio, Cascade Butterfly Trio and the Hello Script die. When adhering the "hello" die inside, I was careful to line it up with the butterflies on the front of the card, making sure it would be out of sight when the card was closed.
I hope you enjoyed this card and find some time this weekend to create a card or two. Thanks for stopping by~
Happy Friday!
Great cards....I actually love paper piecing. TFS

How did you cut the patterned paper without the detail to fit behind the butterflies? Is there another die that coordinated with this die?
