Hi - welcome to the 3rd day of our Designer Stencils Blitz! Be sure to leave a comment on each designer's post - by 6:00 PM EST on May 18th - for a chance to win that day's featured stencil. Jean Okimoto here with a dry-embossed and stenciled card in bright jewel tones.
Distressed Grid is today's featured stencil. It feels outdoorsy - paired with the diecut Oriel Butterfly - and makes me think of trellises, patio pavers and mosaic tiles surrounding a cool blue pool.
I love the versatility of stencils for inking and dry-embossing. It's easy to use just small sections of them - and many of them can be used flipped over to the reverse side too. Let's get started on today's project...
- Distressed Grid Designer Stencil 88531
- Brilliant Designer Stencil 88559
- Happy Arrows Designer Stencil 88509
- Violet Cardstock
- Robins Egg Cardstock
- Lavender Cardstock
- Oriel Butterfly Die 98740
- Metal Adapter Plate
Other Supplies
- Radiant Neons Inkpads - Electric Blue, Electric Green, Electric Purple
- Imagine Crafts Iridescent Embossing Powder
- Heat-Tool
- Diecut Machine and Plates
- Rubber Embossing Mat
- 140# Cold-Pressed Watercolor Paper
- Gold Mirror Cardstock
- Foam Dots
- Sequins
Dry-emboss the watercolor paper - here's the stacking sequence I used with my Grand Calibur:
- Base Plate
- Memory Box Metal Adapter Plate
- Stencil
- Watercolor Paper
- Rubber Embossing Mat
- Light Pink Embossing Plate
Diecut Oriel Butterfly from Robins Egg Cardstock. Stencil it with the Brilliant Designer Stencil and the Radiant Neons. Heat-emboss it with Iridescent Embossing Powder. Diecut the antennae from gold mirror cardstock. Attach the butterfly to the background with foam dots.
Stencil "CELEBRATE" onto Lavender Cardstock with Electric Blue and emboss it with clear embossing powder. Cut the arrow out, attach it to the background. Attach the sequins.
Thanks for visiting - be sure to leave a comment here on Outside the Box for a chance to win today's Distressed Grid Designer Stencil. The deadline for adding your comment is 6:00 PM EST on Sunday May 18th. Winners will be announced on May 19th...good luck!
Join us again tomorrow - for another Designer Stencils project - and a chance to win another featured stencil!

This is a wonderful card and I thought of a pool swimming pool even before I read your blog! The butterfly is superb but I would love to know how you created the pattern on it. Thank you for such a beautiful card.

Wow Jean, I love your card. I never thought about dry embossing stencils, I love that technique. Will the stencils work with any metal shim, or does it have to the MBAP? Great job.
