Garden Greetings

Hello - Jean Okimoto here today.  Hope you enjoyed our Designer Stencils Blitz and discovered some new techniques too!

The blitz has ended - but the deadline for posting comments is 6:00 PM EST tonight - May 18th.  The winners will be announced tomorrow.  Add your comments to each designer's project from May 5th through May 16th - here on Outside the Box - if you haven't already done so.  You could win one of the great stencils featured during the blitz!

Here's another simple card featuring the Distressed Grid.  It's  perfect for garden cards - stenciled in a pale green, or dry-embossed like I did on today's card.  Here's the stacking sequence for the Grand Calibur - it may sound confusing, but think of the paired rubber embossing mat and embossing plate as a substitute for the cutting plate.

  • Gray Base Plate
  • Memory Box Metal Adapter Plate
  • Designer Stencil
  • Cardstock (face-up)
  • Tan Rubber Embossing Mat
  • Light Pink Embossing Plate

The Grand Cal is my go-to machine for diecutting too.  The cutting plates don't curl or warp - I can still use  a cutting plate that has cut 1000's of pieces in the past three years.  It's totally scratched and scary-looking - but still flat and functional.

Memory Box Products

Dry-emboss Distressed Grid on Key Lime Cardstock.  Cut Dogwood Blossom Background from Granny Smith Cardstock and just the flower portion from Peony Cardstock.

Cut Dogwood Blossom Outline from Granny Smith Cardstock and just the flower portion from Peony Cardstock.  Cut the top leaf off from the Background diecut and trim the branch a bit.  Attach background leaves behind the outline leaves for a dimensional look.  Do the same thing with the two flower diecuts.

Stamp the greeting with Electric Coral, dry the ink, then attach the greeting with foam dots.  Attach the sequins.

Thanks for visiting - have a great day - and join us again this evening for another project!
