Because I'm Happy

When making this colorful card to share with you today, this song kept running through my head--you know the one, from the movie "Up" sung by Pharrell Williams....Happy!

Here's a little reminder...

Happy Stencil Card-1_edited-2
Because I'm Happy

I'm featuring the Chic Chevron Stencil inked in multiple pigment colors.

  1. I applied repositional adhesive (tape runner) onto the reverse side of the stencil and pressed it onto my card panel.  If there were any gaps, I lifted the stencil and applied more adhesive until the stencil was super flat on the paper.
  2. I daubbed the pigment ink pad (cat's eye) directly onto the stencil taking up about 3 rows of the chevron per color then blending the colors (darker over lighter).
  3. Remove the stencil.  While the ink is still wet (pigment ink dries slowly so there's time) heat emboss the colors with clear embossing powder.  I love the shiny hard-shell look of the chevron lines and those colors make me happy!
  4. I added the Glorious Gerber Daisies--paper pieced with purple petals and the whimsical Tinsel Ropes.
  5. For the sentiment I stamped the word 'Happy" from the Happy Birthday Background stamp using permanent black ink onto acetate---using acetate allows the stenciled chevron to show through.
What makes you happy?  Hope you enjoyed today's stencil idea--leave a comment for a chance to win the beautiful Chic Chevron stencil.  All comments left by Sunday, May 18th,  6 PM EST will be entered a random drawing.  Winners will be posted here on the blog Monday, May 19.  Good luck!

Happy Friday!

I would be happy if I received a card like this!

Very Sweet!

A colorful sunny card that makes me happy and looking forward to summer :)
Hugs, Jorunn

I love your card. It made me very happy!

This is a happy card...can hear Pharrell in the background when I look at it.

I love the "happy" chevron card. The colors are so bright and cheerful, it really does make you happy to look at. I also like the idea of embossing the colors to make seem even brighter - a technique I will have to try.

Beautiful card, Jenny! Chevron patterns are so popular right now, and I love all the bright colors you used. But I hate to be the one to tell you, but Pharrel Williams' song "Happy" is not from the movie Up; it's from the movie Despicable Me 2. Either way, your card sure makes ME feel like dancing! Very nice!

Great color combo on the chevrons. Very summery.

What a beautiful and colorful card, makes me happy!

You are so right Michelle--the Happy song IS from Despicable Me 2--what was I thinking? Sometimes you're thinking one thing and you write something else...guilty. Thanks for the correction!

Gorgeous colours. Love the chevron stencil. Things that make me happy; sunshine, marshmallows in hot chocolate, laughing and crafting with friends, comments LOL

So pretty, love the happy colors!

Pooh! Such a cool card! I need that Gerber Daisy stencil!

Indeed, a happy card.

Oh, this card makes me HAPPY! Love the colorful chevron.

Flowers make me happy! I love your card, this flower die looks awesome. And your chevron background is so colorful and happy! :) Great ideas, love how it came together. I don't have this stencil...yet! Thanks for sharing.

I was checking out the stencils today for the first time and I LIKE them! At first I wasn't sure how they were going to work, but to be able to emboss AND color...GREAT IDEA!
