Happy Birthday!

IMG_0236

I don't know about you, but I am always looking for birthday card ideas.  I think I make more birthday cards than anything else.  When I saw the Happy Cloud (98893) and the Birthday Cloud (98897), I had all kinds of ideas running through my head.  My first thought was to pair them with a hotair baloon, but once I added the rainbow, there wasn't really any room left.

To make the rainbow, I used part of the new Radio Waves stencil (88538) and masked off the rest.  Next, I airbrushed with with Copic markers (R29, YR04, Y06, B04, V17) to make a rainbow.  You could just as easily use ink pads and sponges to get the same effect.

To finish the card, I added some Clear Wink of Stella glitter to the clouds to make them sparkle.  I have a hard time photographing glitter, but here is a close up that might help:

IMG_0239

When you cut out the clouds with their words, the letters become separate from the cloud.  I took out my words, colored them with a B69 Copic Marker, and then glued them back into the clouds.  The cloud words are very versitile because you could use just the words without the clouds around them.  Here are what the words look like by themselves.  I laid them down on a standard A2 card so you could see the size better:

Abracadabra!! It's a twofer!!!

IMG_9557

Welcome to Day 2 of Memory Box's new release blog blitz! Wow! my fellow designers have out did themselves, haven't they? How can I follow all that?

Be sure to check the blog twice a day for posts all week and leave comments--you might just win a NEW die or stencil from this collection!

Well, how about a twofer!! I am all about finding the most uses out of one stamp, die etc. Remember this post? When I received the Cosenza tree border die # 98855, I knew how else I could use it. But first things first.

I made a set of hello cards each color featuring a different season with the cosenza tree border die cut from various MB papers. I die cut cosenza tree border outline # 98864 from brown card stock. I added a matching strip of washi tape and using the new urban alphabet dies to add the hello.

NOW FOR THE MAGIC!! ABRACADABRA! Just say the magic words- Memory Box!

IMG_9503

Do you see the magic? Do see the twofer? All those left over pieces from the cosenza tree border, minus their trunks made perfect little balloons!! How fun is that!! A subtle sponging of starry nights stencil and this bonus card was complete.

Don't forget to leave a comment to this post for a chance to win the Consenza Tree Border die.  Every blog post this week will have a chance to win a prize.  The deadline for submitting comments is 10:00pm EST on Sunday, March 30th.  Winners will be announced on the Outside the Box blog on Monday, March 31st.  Good luck!

Bountiful Basket and Blushing Bouquet...

PamSparksBasketBlossom

Pam here to share a card with the NEW Spring and Summer 2014 Collection.  Click the pictures to see the card and close up photos full size.

I embossed the NEW Distressed Tula Stencil  by running it through the Big Shot on Kraft card-stock.  I inked it with Walnut Stain Distress ink and the ink blending tool. Layered this piece to a 4 3/4 x 6 inch white card base.

I die cut and embossed the NEW Bountiful Basket die from Kraft card-stock and inked it with Walnut Stain Distress ink and the ink blending tool too.  LOVE this basket... it's going to be cool for so many things!

I die cut and embossed the NEW Blushing Bouquet die from Dill card-stock and then again in Sweet Corn card-stock for the flower part of the die.  I ran the Sweet Corn flowers back through again to emboss them.

While the flowers are still in the die... I shaded them with a little more color using two Copic Sketch Markers...Y13 and Y15.

I love adding greenery to flower arrangements...so the search through dies begins for the right leaves!  I love this NEW Beach Sprig die, it adds a whimsical, sprinkly, spronkly feel to the card.  I cut it from Meadow card-stock.

Then I needed some larger leaves so I used the Slender Leaves die in the basket and an end piece from the Norwich Corner die with the loose flower, both cut in Dill card-stock.  I love using pieces of dies to finish things off.. just makes me happy! : )

The single flower is one of the dies in the Botanic Frame set.  Perfect match!

I needed a table doily... so to speak! *grin*  Enter the Holly Holiday Frame Set.  Love it!  So dainty and pretty... love the little flower it cuts out in the corner... wouldn't it be sweet pieced back in with a color card-stock!  Another card idea!

And then...back to this NEW release...check out this NEW Plush Bow die cut in Lavender card-stock. A darling addition to the basket of flowers...feels like Spring/Easter for sure!

I think that pretty much covers the details for my card... holler if you have any questions!

Flowers and Blog Blitz

IMG_0178
Hi everyone.  I wanted to let you know that the designers will be hosting a blog blitz on the Outside the Box blog starting tomottow (Monday, March 24) through Friday, March 28th.  There will be two posts a day, and a chance to win some of the new dies and stencils.  I hope you will be able to join us!

Before the blitz, I wanted to show you some of the floral cards I have been making using the last release.

For my first card, I started with white cardstock and added some embossing paste using the Rhapsody stencil (8815).  I allowed that to dry and then added the Tulip Stems die (98782).  To color the tulips, I cut out the tulip petals from pink cardstock, ran them through my die cut machine a second time with a rubber mat to emboss the petals and thenI added some pink Copic markers (R81 and R83) to the edges to add a little shading.  My coloring was a bit streaky, but I thought the streakiness looked just fine on tulip petals.

IMG_0180

For my second card, I cut out out the Kensington Border (98743) out of white cardstock.  I colred all of the butterflies, stems and flowers with Copic markers and then placed my diecut onto double-sided adhesive tape.  I like the glitter tape from Elizabeth Crafts for this technique because it really holds glitter well.  Once I put my die onto the tape, I sprinkled the whole thing with glitter so that the space around the die became all glittery and sparkly.

IMG_0182

For my final card, I took some watercolor paper and covered it with pink, orange, and yellow Gelatos and sprayed the whole thing with water to blend the colors.  I let it dry, and then placed the Diamond Stencil (88352) on top and sponged ochre and magenta chalks onto the stencil.  To finish the card, I added the Perky Poppy die (98762).  I don't know if you can tell from the picture, but I paper-pieced the poppy die together and added a bit of Distress ink to the base of each of the poppy petals.

I hope that everyone is enjoying their weekend and will be able to stop by the blitz this week!

Welcome Baby!

IMG_9583

We are gearing up for our new release blog party that will start Monday March 24. Be sure to check in a few times a day for awesome samples using the new stencils and dies that MB has just released and for some great prizes!

My card today is a bit of a tease. It combines old with the new. I rarely need a baby card, but I always keep a few in my stash just in case. This CAS ( and yes it was clean and simple and clean and fast) I used one section of the texture wave stencil #88520 and the just released die mama and baby ducks # 98868. I sponged the waves with blues and greens and added a glimmery look with a touch of my wink of stella pen and popped the die cut mama and baby duck and the sentiment. Finally a touch of bling and voila!

Be sure to check out the upcoming blog blitz for the latest stencils and dies from Memory Box!

Darling Poppies and Die Piecing...

PamSparksDarlingPoppies

Welcome to Outside the Box today...another NEW die from the  Spring and Summer release, called Darling Poppies I love this sweet image and thought it'd make a great CAS just thinking of you today card.

PamSparksDarlingPoppiesClose

Die cut the Darling Poppies die in the front of an A-2 size white notecard. You will need to keep a few of the white pieces to put back in.

Then die cut the Darling Poppies die two more times from Memory Box Meadow Green and Cranberry card-stock... by the way, die piecing is a great way to use up scraps!  YAY!

Turn the white card with the die cut hole over so the back side is facing up.

Place the green outline cut in the hole right side facing down.

Then put in the larger white piece that is between the stems, right side down.

Then using scotch tape or packing tape, tape over the back so there will be sticky on the front.

Turn the white card front, right side up.

Finish filling in the spaces with the flower petals and the three white teeny pieces.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Good Morning All!  Is everyone as excited for the new release as we all are?  I was thrilled to get the opportunity to play with the new stencils as well as the new dies.  Today I am using the Texture Mini Dots Stencil - 88533 for the background with Gold Embossing Paste on black and white.  So cool and so fun.  For the focal image I used the Joyful Bouquet - 98856 cut out of both black and white.  I then alternated black and white for each card and added some Gold Mirror Card and Gold Cord to help complete the card.

Hope everyone is loving all of the samples everyone is sharing here on the blog.  Have a wonderful day!
