Flowering Whimsy Branches/Leaves and Berries

It's raining cats and dogs here in central Maine as I write this post, and I'm hoping that it will help to melt the snow and ice so the real blossoms of spring can start poking their little heads out of the ground soon.  The downside to all this rain is the MUD--I live on a dirt road that is really impassable at the moment.

So what to do on a day like today?  I'm continuing my love of blending stencils and dies, this time creating some flowery spring-y cards.   These first two feature the Flowering Whimsy Branch stencil.

Spring is coming!

I hope everyone has been enjoying their weekend and Spring weather is making its way to you!  It's my turn (Shelby) to bring you a little bit of inspiration this morning and hopefully a little Spring sunshine in your day.

I love using pinks and greens together for Spring themed cards.  The wonderfully gorgeous butterflies are from the new collection and are called Rhone Butterfly Wings 98869.  As you can see this die doesn't completely cut all the way through and makes for some wonderful effects.  No worries though if you love having a full cut out die as a couple of tiny snips with the scissors on the top and bottom gives you a full cut.

The other Memory Box products used are:

Cascadia Wreath 98820

Huckleberry Branch Stamp D1889

Cherry Blossom paper 44004

Thanks for visiting today and may everyone have a wonderful new week!!

Can you say holy Bright Spring colors Batman?!! I had a little bit of play with the new stencil Blooming Frame 88563 and Dylusion inks and oh my are those some bold colors:)

To create the border, I filled up separate large brush water brushes for each color of ink I used and randomly applied the inks and then spritzed the paper with water to create different effects.  Tip:  When I use thinner liquid mediums with stencils, I like to use temporary adhesive on the backside of the stencil so the liquid medium isn't getting underneath the stencils.

The gorgeous new bouquet is called Blushing Bouquet 98890.  I cut it out 3 times and snipped away the sections I didn't want to use and then cut out the flowers to add some additional dimension through layering of the flower heads.  The Botanic Frame set has an individual flower which is a perfect match to these flowers as well.

The flowers fit perfectly in the Garden Watering Can 98859.  I added a bit of stickles to the flower heads and to water can for a little bit of bling!

Thanks for stopping by today. For a chance to win the Blushing Bouquet 98890, don't forget to leave a comment on today's post!

Verona Bouquet

Good Morning Crafty Friends,

Enjoying our Blog Blitz week so far?  Today is our last day so be sure to catch another post this afternoon with Olga!

I chose to feature the new Verona Bouquet and decked it out in greens and purples--a favorite color combination of mine.

Verona Bouquet

For the background I embossed the Fronds Stencil.  It's a fun technique to play with using a stencil, paper and a thin rubber mat, then running it through a die cut machine.  I find that the embossing looks deeper and more detailed when I mist the surface of the paper with rubbing alcohol before sending it through.  The rubbing alcohol dissipates quickly and the paper dries faster than misting with water.

Using the beautiful Memory Box Signature Patterned Papers, I added two Iayers to the petals and curved the top layer forward for dimension.  For a little extra greenery I added the versatile Eva Stem along with a smattering of pearls, a silk ribbon and a happy greeting.  Inside the card I added a strip of gingham and dotted paper to compliment the purple and green color scheme on the front.

Think this could brighten someone's day?  Maybe it would brighten your day to win the Verona Bouquet die.  Simply leave a comment to this post for a chance to win one.  Every blog post this week will have a chance to win a prize.  The deadline for submitting comments is 10:00pm EST on Sunday, March 30th.  Winners will be announced on the Outside the Box blog on Monday, March 31st.  Good luck!

Happy Friday---Thank you for stopping by!

Dream Cloud - Dreaming of Butterflies

DreamcloudGood Morning,  Today I have a card for you using the new Dream Cloud - 98872 die cut.   I first cut out one of the clouds with plain white paper and then colored another piece of paper with copic markers and cut the cloud again to get the colored word "dream" which was then glued into the opening in the white cloud.   I've also created a background using the Cloud Cover - 88558 stencil with white embossing paste and Butterfly Delights - 98130 which were colored with copic markers as well.

Leave a comment to this post for a chance to win the Dream Cloud die cut.  Every blog post this week will have a chance to win a prize.  The deadline for submitting comments is 10:00pm EST on Sunday, March 30th.  Winners will be announced on the Outside the Box blog on Monday, March 31st.  Good luck!

Springtime Poppies

Jean Okimoto-Memory Box-Darling Poppies-Zippy Dots

Hi and welcome to our Spring Collection Blog Blitz!  Jean Okimoto here, with a simple card to welcome the new season, and our great collection of new Memory Box Dies and Designer Stencils.  Let's combine a quick watercolor-y technique with the wonderful spring products today.

Memory Box Products

  • Darling Poppies 98879
  • Zippy Dots Designer Stencil 88568
  • Metal Adapter Plate
  • Granny Smith Cardstock
  • Peony Cardstock
  • Parchment Cardstock
  • Granny Smith Envelope

Inks

  • Imagine Crafts Lady Bug irRESISTible Colored Texture Spray
  • Imagine Crafts Golden Glitz Delicata
  • Imagine Crafts Pearlescent Lime Brilliance.

Spritz water and Imagine Crafts Lady Bug irRESISTible onto a craft mat and allow the water and ink to blend.  Press a rectangle of 140# cold-pressed watercolor paper onto the diluted ink, then heat-set it briefly, just till it's still slightly damp.

Press some ink from a Delicata Golden Glitz inkpad onto a clean section of the craft mat and spritz the ink lightly with water.  Press the watercolor paper into the diluted Golden Glitz to pick up some soft gold highlights.  Heat-set the paper, trim it and ink the edges with a waterbrush dipped into a blend of Lady Bug and water.

Diecut Darling Poppies from Granny Smith Cardstock.  Cut the flowers again from Peony Cardstock and press a piece of Scor-Tape onto the backside of the flowers to keep the pieces intact.  Stencil Zippy Dots onto the watercolor paper with Pearlescent Lime.  Assemble the card - offset the Peony Cardstock flowers so the Granny Smith portion appears as a slight shadow.  Attach three green sequins.  Tuck the card into a spring green Granny Smith Envelope and send it to someone special.

Be sure to add your comment to all of the posts during our blitz this week - you'll be entered to win a product from each designer's project.  I'll be giving away the beautiful, delicate Darling Poppy Die!

Every blog post this week will have a chance to win a prize.  The deadline for submitting comments is 10:00pm EST on Sunday, March 30th.  Winners will be announced on the Outside the Box blog on Monday, March 31st.
