Flowers and Blog Blitz
Hi everyone. I wanted to let you know that the designers will be hosting a blog blitz on the Outside the Box blog starting tomottow (Monday, March 24) through Friday, March 28th. There will be two posts a day, and a chance to win some of the new dies and stencils. I hope you will be able to join us!
Before the blitz, I wanted to show you some of the floral cards I have been making using the last release.
For my first card, I started with white cardstock and added some embossing paste using the Rhapsody stencil (8815). I allowed that to dry and then added the Tulip Stems die (98782). To color the tulips, I cut out the tulip petals from pink cardstock, ran them through my die cut machine a second time with a rubber mat to emboss the petals and thenI added some pink Copic markers (R81 and R83) to the edges to add a little shading. My coloring was a bit streaky, but I thought the streakiness looked just fine on tulip petals.
For my second card, I cut out out the Kensington Border (98743) out of white cardstock. I colred all of the butterflies, stems and flowers with Copic markers and then placed my diecut onto double-sided adhesive tape. I like the glitter tape from Elizabeth Crafts for this technique because it really holds glitter well. Once I put my die onto the tape, I sprinkled the whole thing with glitter so that the space around the die became all glittery and sparkly.
For my final card, I took some watercolor paper and covered it with pink, orange, and yellow Gelatos and sprayed the whole thing with water to blend the colors. I let it dry, and then placed the Diamond Stencil (88352) on top and sponged ochre and magenta chalks onto the stencil. To finish the card, I added the Perky Poppy die (98762). I don't know if you can tell from the picture, but I paper-pieced the poppy die together and added a bit of Distress ink to the base of each of the poppy petals.
I hope that everyone is enjoying their weekend and will be able to stop by the blitz this week!
Awesome coloring for the tulip card Laura!

All the cards are lovely. I especially enjoyed the first one. My mother loves tulips. I love how you colored the tulips and it looks exquisite against the white embossed background.

Oh my, I'm already wondering how I will manage to restrain myself from ordering all of the new stuff. Sigh.

I am excited about the new releases, and I am looking forward to the blog posts. Thank you for sharing the beautiful cards. The tulip card is my favourite, the embossed background and the colouring of the tulips. This is a beautiful spring card.
I also really like the Kensington border card, and the colours you have used. Thank you for sharing today.

Love the softness of the coloring in the pink flowers, just lovely and that border makes a wonderful focal point for the second card, pretty watercolor background for your flowers in the last!

Beautiful set of cards. Those tulips look so realistic, and I am in love with that poppy die (and your colors are great) and the border made such a pretty card. I liked that you colored it. Not sure I would have thought to do that. And you can never go wrong with glitter.
