Masculine Birthday

Good morning everyone!  I hope you've had a wonderful weekend and are enjoying the waning summer season and gearing up for Autumn and the beginning of school for those with kids.  A big thank you to all of the awesome participants who joined me last month for our day full of all things Memory Box at Simple Pleasures.  The uber talented Jenny Griffiths will be teaching some amazingly cool classes this coming weekend at Simple Pleasures...August 22st and 23rd.  Call the store or stop in to register for a few hours of fun and creativity!!  These classes are also available as a kit.

On to my card for today.  I'm always in need of masculine cards and just love the new die called Gear Assembly.

I cut the Gear Assembly die twice.  Once in black card stock to create the shadow and once in gold for the main element. You can find all of the very cool gear dies HERE. The background paper was created using plain black card stock and irRESISTible texture spray from Imagine crafts.  I'm loving this product.  It's fast and easy way to create some wonderful and unique effects with regular cardstock.

The sentiment (Happy Birthday Special Combo B1910) was stamped in Memento Luxe (wedding dress color) and the embossd with clear embossing powder.

Thanks for stopping by today and hope your upcoming week is a great one!

Raindrops Keep Coming

We've had a lot of rain here this summer it's good and bad.  The good is the garden is growning the bad is the weeds are too.  I have created the perfect rain scene with no weeds just rain and trees and grass, see no weeding!  I created the background with the Raindrops Stencil 88577 with clear embossing paste.  When it was dry I inked the background darker and used the Solid Arch 98992 die for the hill.  The trees are the Consenza Tree Border 98864 and then a few clouds with Puffy Clouds 98172.

Hope you like it remember you don't have to weed it which makes it the perfect rainy day!

Thank you for stopping by.  Have a great day!

Felt Flowers and Sweet Birthday Wishes

Got felt?  Here’s a quick card that’s perfect for summer celebrations.  Jean Okimoto here – with a few of my favorite floral dies and some felt from my stash.  I love the new Word Pop Straight Die - it's versatile and works with greetings of all sizes.  Use the diecut as-is, or trim and customize it for your special message.

Small Word Pop Straight (99054)
4.3 x .6 in. or 11 x 1.6 cm.

Memory Box Products

  • 99054  NEW Small Word Pop Straight
  • 98312  Fancy Blossoms
  • 98837  Adorable Posies
  • 98802  Perfect Petioles
  • B2010  Sweet Birthday
  • Kraft Cardstock
  • Kraft Envelope

Stamp the greeting and emboss it with detail clear powder.  Cut it with Small Word Pop Straight and round the corners.

Diecut an assortment of flowers from felt – use the good stuff -  a blend of wool and synthetic fibers, for best results.  Impress carries a great assortment of felt – you’ll want at least one of every color!

Attach everything to side-folded Kraft A2 card – and add some sequins.

Koi and Cattails

Memory Box Clever Koi-Memory Box Large Cattails-Memory Box Zippy Dots Stencil-Asian Card-techniques-Jean Okimoto

Looking for something a little different today?  Create an Asian-inspired card with some of your favorite Memory Box products!  Jean Okimoto here – let’s get started…

Memory Box Products

  • NEW Large Cattails Stamp G2020
  • Clever Koi Die 98560
  • Zippy Dots Designer Stencil 88568
  • Holly Berry Cardstock
  • Licorice Cardstock

Imagine Crafts Inkpads

  • Memento Luxe Espresso Truffle
  • Delicata Golden Glitz

The new Large Cattails stamp is perfect for summer and fall cards.  Stamp it once for an airy effect – as shown here – or layer it for a bold background.

I love to stencil over an embossed background.  You know exactly where to daub the ink – and the embossed image resists the stenciled ink.  Delicata Golden Glitz is great for both stamping and stenciling – it’s rich, shimmery and dries with a beautiful luster.

Visit our Ideas Gallery for detailed directions for today's card - and a few more.

Thanks for stopping by this weekend.  Hope you'll have a chance to check back again this evening for another project.

Speaking of stars...Big Thanks to design star Donna Mikasa for reminding me about diecutting with felt...on a warm summer day, when felt is not quite at the top of my list of go-to supplies.    It's so easy to cut, adds great dimension and comes in beautiful colors!

Sweet Cherries

Good Morning!  It's that time of year when the birdies in my yard build nests in all of our fruit trees and wait for the fruit to ripen.  This year they are using my new cocoa liners of my hanging baskets making things a bit messy but they are getting excited for their reward to come.  This card reminds me of how Happy the they will all be when they are reaping their rewards.

I used quite a few Dies for this one.  Dies used are the new Sweet and Sour Cherries - 98989 and new Wicker Panel - 98984 also used are the Gold Finch - 98756, Woodland Branch - 98187 and the Happy Cloud - 98893.  The Cherries and the Happy were cut from cardstock and then colored with Clear Glaze Pen.  The Wicker Panel was cut from Kraft paper and inked with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.  Hope you like it.

Thank you so much for stopping by hope your having a great day!

Blushing Flower Branch Notecards

One of my new favorite dies is the Blushing Flower Branch, No. 98980.  Here's one set of notecards I made:

I inked up the Create Art stamp No. G1330 with Hero Arts Cornflower Blue and stamped the image directly onto a white notecard.  I added a Blushing Flower Branch and some blue grosgrain ribbon.  What a quick and easy card!  So, of course, I made several.  I like the way the branch just fits between the larger stamped words.

The other two cards I made use two branch cut-outs of the same die on each and a different background stamp:

For these I inked up the Vintage Dreams stamp No. G1838, stamped it on the white notecards, and then edged each one with the same ink using a sponge dauber.  I really like the look of the two branches over the dream words.  On one I added a bow, and on the other I stamped Makes Me Smile No. B1765.

The next time you make a card that is kind of quick and easy, think about making several.  These might just be the perfect little gift for a friend!

Happy Crafting!
