Happy BEE-day!

Have you noticed all the bees lately?  Since my yard is in full bloom the honey bees are loving it and gathering oodles of nectar and pollen.  Just stepping outside you can HEAR them before you see them.  Tree trimmers are coming tomorrow and I wish them luck!

This is my inspiration for the birthday card today...bees in the trees.

Can you see their little delicate wings?  I die cut them from a scrap of translucent vellum and c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y glued them onto the bee bodies.  I cut the bee bodies from patterned paper and the stripes from black paper.  Tweezers came in handy when gluing the stripes on.  It's detail work but I love the end result.  And no bee is complete without dashes drawn to show their flight path, right?

And let's not forget the adorable bee skep on the inside of the card...
