Summer Birthdays and State Fairs

Looking ahead to family birthdays, there are a few in the Summer that happen to coincide with our local State Fair which we never miss.  So here's a birthday card for dear 'ol Dad complete with his favorite things, even the peanut brittle.

I cut the Vintage Bycycle from Black, brown, crimson, licorice dot and blue papers.  The black bicycle was used as the base and the rest were "parted-out".  The wheels were cut and layered in brown and the bicycle seat and banner flag was from the crimson paper.  More banner flags were made from the small triangle scraps from the bicycle wheels...a happy discovery!

Memory Box has released a very helpful Narrow Metal Shim (2.75" x 11.25") to help with cutting the long dies like this Cosmic Star Border.  Those little stars were perfect for scattering around the card so I cut some in red too!

Since the overall appearance of the card was meant to appear aged, I distress inked some edges with light brown ink using a finger daubber.

The black moustache is one of my favorite elements on this card and when popped up on the stamped and layered Sideshow Tickets adds a funny touch.  You've heard about the moustache trend....I "mous-tache" you ..."  (I must ask you...) Anyway, it's lots of fun to add to cards in different creative ways.

So...I "moustache" you to make some special cards using Memory Box stamps and dies for those upcoming birthdays and give this one a try!
