Love is still in the air....

Hi Everyone,

I made a valentine banner to teach at an event coming up at the store that I work at.  The event is sold out but this banner would be very easy to make on your own.  All of the heart dies work so well together!   I used double sided scrapbook paper for this project so that it looks good if it hangs somewhere that the back will show.  Both sides of the paper also show with the pocket on the "O".

The letters are all cut out of glitter paper using the new Large Upper Case Alphabet die (#98436).
The base for "L", "V" and "E" is the Grand Heart Die (#98254).  "O" is the new Heart Pocket die (#98509). After it is folded, this die has the same footprint as the Grand heart die.

"L" has the Bella Bouquet die (#98472) under one of the hearts included with the Precious Heart Box die
(#98523).

"O" has a tag cut from the Cupid Heart die (#98281) tucked into the Heart Pocket.  This heart pocket would also be really pretty on the front of a card.

"V" is another one of the hearts included with the Precious Heart Box over the Grand Heart.

"E" has the Bella Bouquet again to balance out the banner with the Precious Heart Box (#98523) layered over it.  There is room in the pocket for a piece of chocolate but it keeps going missing :)

I used a standard hole punch to put a hole on each side of the hearts and then threaded a silky rose colored ribbon through them.  This project came together very quickly because all of these dies work so well together.

All of the dies on the banner are from Memory Box.
This beautiful paper is Autentique's "Lovely" line.
The ribbon is from May Arts.
The glitter paper is from Best Creations.

Thank you for stopping by.

Lovely Peony

The Lovely Peony Outline and Lovely Peony Background dies were the first ones I was drawn to from the new collection from Memory Box.     This is the card I designed using these dies.   I taught this card at The Scrapadoodle in Peoria, IL last night and everyone LOVED it!

Just change out the sentiment and its the perfect card for a birthday, Mother's Day, or whatever!

Lovely Peonyblog

Instructions:

  • Cut a piece of Sugar Plum paper 3 7/8" X 5 1/8" and attach to a piece of Licorice paper (4 X 5 1/4").  then adhere to the front of a Raspberry Notecard.
  • Die cut a  1 1/2" X  4 5/8" strip of Raspberry paper using Trellis Border die.  Run die through Xyron “X” sticker maker.  Make sure you rub this piece well including in the nooks and cranny’s to make sure the sticker material adheres.  I like to use a popsicle stick or stylus.  Attach to strip of Licorice paper and then to front of card.
  • Die cut a circle out of white paper and a slightly larger circle out of Licorice paper.  Adhere the white to the Licorice then attach to the front of the card.
  • Die cut the Lovely Peony Outline froma piece of Raspberry cardstock and run through Xyron.  Then attach to the Lovely Peony Background that has been die cut from a piece of Cherry Blossom paper.  Adhere to top of circles.
  • I dyed some seam binding using Spun Sugar and Picked Raspberry Distress inks.  Thread twine through a button and tie in back.  Make four loops with ribbon and tie with remaining twine.  Attach to front of card with a large glue dot.
  • I added some tiny dots of Magenta Stickles to the center of the Peony.

I hope you enjoy!!!

Memory Box Valentine Cards

Here are a few of the cards I will be teaching at The Stamp Addict in San Diego, CA. today and again on Sunday Jan. 27th! I hope you like them and come join the fun if you are in the area!

On this 1st card I used the Moustache and the Large Classic Lowercase Alphabet sets and the Row of Hearts stamp! I think it is a great masculine card for Valentine's Day!

On this next card I used the Bingham Heart with the Grand Heart die, oh and of course some Bling!

This next card I used the Norrland Flower die and the Gingham Heart stamp on a shimmer textured paper!

Row of Hearts with Copics

Everyone who knows me knows that I <3 Copics!    I'm still trying to perfect coloring with them and need a LOT more practice....  But here's a card I created using the new Row of Hearts stamp and Copics.

Row of Hearts
Instructions:

  • Ink of Row of Hearts (E1904) with Black Memento ink and stamp onto Parchment Paper.
  • Color hearts with various shades of Copics from R20 to R29.  I trimmed this piece down to 4 3/4" X 1 1/2" and distressed with Antique Linen Distress ink using a Blending Tool and foam.  Then adhere to Licorice paper 4 7/8 X 1 5/8".  Set aside.
  • Cut a piece Aloe paper 3 7/8" X 5 1/8" and add 3 black brads to the top left side.  Then adhere to a piece of Licorice paper 4 X 5 1/4".  Adhere this to a Bubblegum Note Card.
  • Die cut Charlotte Border from a piece of Licorice Paper (1 X 3 7/8") and adhere behind a piece of Bubblegum Gingham paper ( 2 X 3 7/8") and attach to right side of card.
  • Attach stamped image with pop up tape.
  • I added Glossy Accents to some of the hearts to give the card some dimension.  Not sure if you can tell...perhaps if you enlarge the photo.

I'll be teaching a class at Scrapadoodle in Peoria, IL on Monday, January 28.  Here's a photo of the four cards we'll make using all new stamps and dies from MB!  Hope you can join us.  Get all the details on the Memory Box Classes blog.

Memory Box and Poppystamps - the Perfect Pair

P1030009Here's a Valentine greeting from the Poppystamps Blog - I think you'll love their new Madison House Set Die.  It includes a roofline, roof, door, window - and a window box, just waiting to be filled with shiny, tiny hearts diecut with the Memory Box Cherish Border.

See the Memory Box 2013 Collection.

You'll love the new Poppystamps Dies too - view them here.

The Memory Box Metal Adapter Plate is great for diecutting intricate designs like the Cherish Border.  It's also perfect with dies like the roof, rooftrim, door, window and windowbox - for quick, easy, one-step cutting and embossing!

Asters Anyone?

I seem to be on a botanical kick lately but with the new Memory Box dies can you blame me?

Today I share with you the Lovely Aster.  As I did last week with the Phlox...I went to the internet to research asters---what color are they?  Do they grow in clusters?  Again, I found there are many colors and varieties but this color combination appealed to me most.

And here's Nature's finest!

Article-new_ehow_images_a07_so_sr_plant-aster-garden-800x800

The actual metal die looks like this:

Void(0)

I layered the 3 largest die cut flowers after "stripping" each petal between my fingers and pulling downward ---much like curling ribbon with scissors.  A tiny drop of glue in the centers between each layer (in descending size) holds them in place.  As for the yellow center, I die cut 3 per flower to give it fullness.  They were "stripped" upward, layered, then slightly crushed with my thumb to create a dome.

A little petal "fluffing" and lifting made each flower dimensional.  This card will definitely need to be hand delivered or sent in a presentation box so it won't be crushed.

Here are all the supplies used on this card:

98510 Lovely Aster die

98508 Pippi Butterfly die

98507 Isabella Butterfly die

B1906 Filled with Love

98449 Chesapeake Circle die

Papers:

10152 Flower Cottage ,44042 Sweet Corn, 44015 Hyacinth,  44038 Sapphire,  77885 Distressed Blueberry, 44010 Dill and  44037 Sage.

In my next post...the lovely Peony?  Dogwood?  Hollyhock?  Violet? ...any requests?

Happy Friday!
