A Rustic Christmas

I live in the suburbs of San Diego where the yards are measured in acres, sidewalks are in the "newer" areas and our neighbors have horses, chickens and multiple dogs (that's us).

This time of year we all have our fireplaces burning with wood cut from our own fallen trees and we share our picked fruit by hanging bags of tangerines, lemons, limes, avocados (or whatever we have in excess) on each others fences. All this to say, today I'm sharing a card with a woodsy, rustic, nature-loving style (Ok, so I couldn't help myself...there are shiny red pearls on this card).

A Rustic Christmas

Memory Box Materials:

  • C1873 Vintage Merry Christmas
  • G1898 Woodland Christmas Tree
  • 33021 Kraft Notecard
  • 77864 Vanilla Bean Distressed Dots Paper

  • White detail embossing powder
  • 2 1/2" circle punch
  • Brushed Corduroy, Peeled Paint, Fired Brick distress inks
  • Wood-grain embossing folder
  • Red gingham ribbon (Creative Impressions)
  • Natural and dark brown twine (Creative Impressions)
  • jingle bells
  • Red pearls
  1. Run a kraft paper panel through the woodgrain embossing folder, highlight the woodgrain with distress ink.  Layer distressed dots paper and punch 2 1/2 circle punch on right side partially off the edge.  Trace with a pencil the circle opening on the notecard then stamp greeting within the traced area.  Adhere layers following traced line.
  2. Emboss Christmas tree design with white powder and ink edges with distress ink.  Adhere red pearls as ornaments. Attach to card with foam dots for elevation.
  3. Add red gingham to fold side of card and tie off with twine.  String jingle bells across upper portion of card and adhere bow-tied ends.

Merry Christmas!
