Autumn Sunset

Can you feel it?  Summer is giving us a final blast of heat and Autumn is almost here.  In fact officially Summer has ended...the nights are cooler at last.  I'm looking forward to seeing more beautiful sunsets like the one last evening.  It was the inspiration for this colorful card...

Start this card by
  1. Punching a 1 1/4" circle from low tack masking paper; position the paper circle mask just right of center on a 4 3/4" x 3 3/4" eggshell card stock panel.
  2. Using straw, marigold and rusty colored inks, sponge colors from light to dark beginning at the top and blending to the bottom of the card.
  3. Remove circle mask, stamp Autumn Trees (G1896) in black ink on lower portion.  Immediately apply clear embossing powder over the entire card.  As long as the inks remained wet the powder will stick.  If it has dried, apply embossing ink over the scene and sprinkle with clear embossing powder;  Heat until surface is shiny and all powder has been melted.
  4. Layer scene off center onto deckle edge soire paper leaving widest possible margin on right side.
  5. For extra sparkle...use a straight edge ruler and brown Memento marker to draw 3 vertical lines and apply gemstones of various sizes and colors randomly along drawn lines.
  6. Attach both layers onto a pool colored notecard using foam squares for elevation.
  7. Add pretty ribbons to top on the fold.
The clear embossing over the entire scene adds a beautiful shine to the card, enhances the colors and gives it texture for interest.  Sorry, it doesn't show up in the photograph so try this technique and enjoy the scenery first hand.
Happy Friday!
