A Special Gift Box
I recently received a gift packaged in a little brown papier mache box that I immediately saved in my ITEMS TO RECYCLE stash. I like to repurpose packaging by adding Memory Box papers, stamps and die cuts along with pretty ribbons to create unique gift boxes.
MATERIALS:
- box
- purple Tombow pen
- Ranger's Collage Glue Stick (the green one)
- 98325 Hibiscus Flower Die
- Viola papers in Pocket Posie and Candied Violets
- a scrap of dark purple cardstock
- ribbon
Begin by coloring the top edges and sides of the box cover and the corners of the box base with the purple Tombow pen. This covers any of the original box color. You might skip this step if you prefer to have the box color show if it coordinates with the papers you've chosen.
Measure the top of the cover and the sides of the box and cut Pocket Posie pieces to fit. Attach them to the box using the Collage Glue Stick. (Or use your favorite adhesive. Scotch Quick-Dry Adhesive white glue is another one I like.)
Using 98325 Hibiscus Flower die, break apart the flower and the stamen by gently bending. Die cut three Hibiscus Flowers from Candied Violets paper. I die cut the stamens from a scrap piece of dark purple cardstock. Use tiny glue dots to adhere the stamens into the centers of the flowers. Glue two of the flowers to the box top and pop dot the third one for more dimension.
To make a tag for the top of the box, cut a piece of dark purple cardstock and layer on a smaller piece of the Pocket Posie paper. Tie a piece of green ribbon around the tag and pop dot the tag to the box top. Once I decide who will receive a gift in this box, I'll add an appropriate sentiment from my Memory Box stamps to the tag.
Finish the box by wrapping a piece of the same ribbon around the box, tie a bow, and secure the ribbon with a couple of tiny glue dots.
Start saving those little boxes and other packaging, bags, etc., and create your own special gift boxes! I hope to have quite a few of my own ready for the holidays.
Happy Crafting!
Great idea for recycling those little boxes. I just happen to have those papers, too. Hmm... No dinner tonight!
