Textured Frame

I had fun using some of the the lovely Memory Box paper with a touch of embossing and white acrylic paint:

P1010188
Emboss pattern paper centering the part of the paper to be the focal point in the embossing folder.

Sponge on white acrylic paint over surface of embossed areas. Let dry. Sponge blue dye ink over the embossed surface.

The edges were distressed using a distressing tool.

Die cut two strips using the Charlotte Border Die on white cardstock.  Sponge with blue dye ink.

To finish it off the sweet poppy bird die cut was cut from white cardstock and smeared with blue dye ink.  The wing was a scrap from another die cut which was trimmed to the shape of the wing.

Stamp the sentiment (Spring New Beginnings) using black ink in opening.  Accent with white feathers, ribbon, and flowers.

Have a lovely day!

Hi - Jean Okimoto here today - with "just a few" of the great Memory Box Dies.  Swaying Palm 98330 and Oceana Border 98335 are from the latest summer collection.  Petite Umbrella 98296 and Fringe Circle 98268 are favorites from an earlier release.

Mail Definitions G1839 makes it look like snailmail to someone back at the office - "having a great time, wish you were here."   It's a great background stamp for any occasion.

Hot Summer Border!

Whew!  It's hot and sticky here in the midwest....yup, it's summer!   I enjoy all the beautifully landscaped yards here.  So many lovely flower beds.  Just the inspiration I needed to create a card with the Summer Border 98338.  Vivienne, the butterfly, stopped by too to take in the blooms.

 Instructions:

  • Cut a 4 1/8" X 5 3/8" mat from Licorice paper and attach to Key Lime Note Card.
  • Cut a 4" X 5 1/4" mat from Parchment paper and attach to card front.
  • Die cut Summer Border from Key Lime Distressed Dots paper and attach to the front of card.   I use a tape runner on the bottom of the border and a bit of 2-way glue on the blooms.
  • Die cut 2 or 3 more Summer Borders from other papers.  This is a great way to use some of those scraps you have lying around.
  • Trim the blooms and butterflies from these pieces and use 2-way glue to attach to the corresponding bloom/butterfly on the card.
  • Stamp sentiment on Parchment paper and adhere to Licorice mat and attach to front of card.
  • Die cut Darla Butterfly from paper of your choice.  I used Fresh Fruit. And die cut Vivienne Butterfly from Licorice paper.  Add just a touch of glue to the center of Vivienne Butterfly and attach to Darla Butterfly then just a touch of glue to adhere it to your card front.

Supplies:   Memory Box paper: Key Lime, Key Lime Distressed Dots, Licorice, Parchment, Fresh Fruit; Memory Box dies: Summer Border, Vivienne Butterfly, Darla Butterfly; Memory Box stamp: Wishing You Combo

I'll be teaching this card and three others at Prairie Art Stamps in Springfield, IL on June 16.  Then I'll be teaching 4 totally different cards at Scrapadoodle in Peoria, IL on June 24.  Check out the Find a Memory Box Class Near You link at the top of this page for a class near you.

Time for another winner.  Congratulations Susan in AK!  Your comment was chosen at random to win the new Swaying Palm die (98330).  Susan said, "what a stunning card. love it!"

The palm tree has a 2.6" tall trunk and has separate leaves that you can cut and assemble into a tree.  Here is a picture:

Pocket Gift Tag

Gift card tag2

I don't know about you, but I have dozens of graduations and weddings to attend this summer.  Tis the season, I guess.  That's why I was so excited about the new Pocket Gift Tag die!  It seems everyone wants Gift Cards, but they haven't been much fun to wrap or open until now!  I used a Lavender note card as the base, then also cut the tag out of Lavender paper.  NOTE:  Memory Box paper is white core, which means it's white on the back.  After I cut the die, I trimmed the pocket piece off (becuase if I had just folded it up, it would have been white instead of purple).  I then reattached it at the bottom with a thin piece of tape and taped the flaps to the back as usual.  It's a very easy fix!

The hole at the top of the tag can be embellished with ribbon, but if you plan to place a gift card in the pocket, the ribbon can get in the way.  Instead, I highlighted the hole by centering it over one of the "violets" in the Candied Violets 12x12 paper, which I cut using the Debutante Frame.  Cute!

I stamped the B1359 Best Wishes phrase onto a piece of white card stock and cut it out with the Pastry Labels die.  This die creates slits in the sides, which you can embellish with ribbon or paper.  I used Violet card stock and popped the entire piece up on the pocket with foam tape.

In the upper corner, I added a touch of interest by cutting out Violet and Lavender flowers with the Fancy Blossoms die.  I added some sparkle with Purple Stickles and used Brushed Corduroy to distress the edges of all of the pieces.

Now, all you have to do is choose a Gift Card that matches your color scheme (the hardest part of the project, probably) and then go and enjoy your summer of activities!  Enjoy!!

Good Day Sunshine!

Happy Friday!  This week has flown by and we hope you have enjoyed the 'Outside the Box' Design Team Blog Blitz featuring the exciting new Memory Box Summer Collection.

The sweet little Meadow Bird and Virtuoso Music dies are my personal favorites---they're just made to go together...

I stacked 3 shades of yellow paper (4"x4") and cut them with a sturdy guillotine type paper cutter into radiating strips.  Selecting alternating shades, I adhered them puzzle-piece style onto a 3 3/4" x 4" base card.  Trim off any overhang pieces.  Use the remaining "sun rays" to make two additional cards.

The Cornerstone Seal die makes the perfect rising sun. You only need half of it since the sun is just dawning---use the other half for those extra cards.  I cut apart the outside ring then adhered both pieces to the card without the gap.

Now simply add the meadow bird and the virtuoso music---don"t forget the Marshmallow Clouds---it's a new die too!

Attach the sun panel and the music to a layered notecard and add a special greeting.  This card only takes about 20-30 minutes and your second and third ones come together even quicker...those extra pieces come in handy!

Featured Dies:

98344 Marshmallow Clouds (you get two different sizes!)

98339 Meadow Bird

98356 Virtuoso Music

98293 Cornerstone Seal

Best Wishes

Hello Memory Box friends!

We are wrapping up the week of our Design Team Blog Blitz featuring the Summer 2012 release. I hope you have enjoyed all the ideas for using these fun, new stamps and dies.  I put together this card using the new Delicate Fern (98341) and Virtuoso Music (98356) dies, and added the Very Best (B1359) greeting to finish it off.

Mbblogjuneblitz_blog
I cut the ferns from dark green suede paper and the music notes from black cardstock. My base card is bubblegum layered with bubblegum distressed dots paper. I wrapped cream ribbon around the layer and tied a bow. My final piece was the sentiment stamped onto cream cardstock and matted onto black.

I am sending this card to my Dad in recognition of his recent proposal to his sweetheart, Carol. They are 72 years young and plan to marry this summer. Now that's something to celebrate!

Be sure to leave a comment  on the posts you read during the blitz and you will have a chance to win a Memory Box die.  Also, if you  upload your own card design featuring Memory Box stamps to our Flicker site  by Thursday, June 14th, you'll have another chance to win a Memory Box prize. Watch for winning cards on the Friday, June 15th Outside the Box blog.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great weekend.
