Lucky You!!

IMG_4991
Happy Saint Patrick's Day Everyone!!

Can you believe this clean and very simple card has no stamping?!!? YIKES!!! What is my world coming to? I'm a stamper!! Gosh, Dave's dies are taking over even this stamper's world.

My husband is Irish, so I alway make him a St. Patrick's Day card. This easy card show cases the Lucky Leaves (98314) dies. I don't think I even need to explain how to make it. 'Lucky you' is handwritten.

So if it last minute and you need a very fast and fun card, feel free to steal the design.

Remember everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day!!

Pretty Posies

I have a cheery and colorful birthday card to share with you today.

IMG_3505

The posies are made from a new die named Cherry Blossom from the "What's in the Box" collection.  I LOVE thiem!  The metal die not only cuts beautifully but makes several tiny score lines on each petal making it easy to shapie into a dimensional flower.  Now just dab a bit of adhesive on the tab between the petals (shown below), then tuck the tab behind the adjacent petal---a flower is born!  This same die also cuts a pretty stamen and star.  As you can see, I like to mix and match the colors.

To fill in any gaps, the Tender Leaves die make several (4) wonderful embossed leaves to accompany the posies.

98316 98313

We can't forget butterflies...I made several from the Butterfly Delights die.  Some fluttered into the sky and one stayed behind on a leaf!

The birthday greeting banner was stamped then double scored close together on either side of the message.  Fold on the score lines to create the stair step effect and finish by scissor snipping both ends into a fish-tail shape.

Materials:

Cherry Blossom Die #98316

Tender Leaves Die #98313

Butterfly Delights Die # 98130

Birthday Greeting Stamp B1851

Aloe Notecard

Veronica, Candied Violets, Polka Polka patterned paper from Viola paper collection

We're battening down the hatches here in San Diego...a big rain storm is due tomorrow.  Great weather to stay indoors and craft, don't you think?

Happy Friday!

Easter Egg Trio

What's not to love about the Filigree Easter Egg die??!!

I'll be teaching in Peoria, IL at the Scrapadoodle on March 24.  In planning for the class, the owner Lynne Demanes asked me to use this die.  She said its many of her customers' favorite!  And who could blame them.

So, here we are!  I hope they like it!

Filigree Egg Peoria

I started out by die cutting three eggs out of papers from the Viola 6 X 6 paper pack using the Classic Egg die (98305).  It was hard to choose just three!  Next, I cut the Filigree Egg (98306) 3 times from the new Aloe paper.  I ran the Filigree Egg pieces through my Xyron "X" and attached them to the Classic Egg pieces. Sentiment is Easter Joy (B1763)

The card is made up of an Aloe Note Card, a white mat and the top mat is the new Sky paper.  My favorite.

If you live in the Peoria, IL area I hope you'll consider taking this class.  1:00 to 3:30 on March 24 at the Scrapadoodle.  You can check out pictures of all the cards by clicking on Find a Memory Box Class Near You link at the top of this page.

Thanks for stopping by!

"Easy Peasy" Poppy Cards

We're going to make a bunch of these cards in this afternoon's class at Your Maine Stamper.

Prim poppy
I took pictures outside on Sunday afternoon and you can see the shadows cast by the bows and the image.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the new Prim Poppy Die No. 98310! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the newest 6X6 Viola paper collection! And I LOVE LOVE LOVE combining them on the new slate notecards!

These cards go together very quickly once everything is cut out. I started by cutting the Prim Poppy Die No. 98310 over and over again on scraps of black cardstock using my Cuttlebug. Then I opened a package of 6X6 Viola papers and cut several sheets down to 4"x5".  For the black and white card, I just flipped over the piece I cut off and used that as the white backdrop for the flowers silhouette.  The black bows are pop-dotted and packaged in sixes that I found at ACMoore.  The white bows are from a huge box of bows I bought at a yard sale ten years ago.

To assemble, select a notecard, glue on the Viola paper, add the poppy (glue dots on the bud and blossoms and at the place where the stems cross), and pop on a bow.  Easy Peasy! Wouldn't a box of six or eight make a lovely gift for a friend?! Just vary the inside sentiments or leave them blank.

I usually sign off with "Happy Stamping", but today I think it should be...

Happy Die-Cutting!!!

Happy Birthday

P1010697

I just sent this card off to celebrate my BIL birthday.  I had a lot of fun creating the layers on the background.  The background is a combination of stamping, tissue paper, and watered down Elmer's glue.

Recipe:

  1. Cut a strip of white cardstock. Smaller than the desired size of the main image.
  2. Stamp over background using Mail definition using black water resistant ink. Repeat until covered.
  3. Stamp flowers onto tissue paper. Spray with glimmer mists (Green, Blue)
  4. Apply watered down glue over surface of stamped cardstock.
  5. Lay tissue paper onto wet glue surface.  Use brush to add watered down glue over tissue paper.
  6. Repeat the process multiple times. Allow tissue paper to hang over the edges of the white cardstock.  Stamp text onto some of the tissue paper pieces to blend back into the images.
  7. Let dry.
  8. Tear off excess edges of tissue paper leaving jagged edges. Tear off any areas on the surface that you don't like the effect.  Sponge on brown dye ink over edges and surface.
  9. Tie with twine.
  10. Attach to card base.
  11. Stamp sentiment in corner.

Using the Metal Adapter Plate along with the other plates required for cutting thin metal dies, diecut Poppystamps Meadow Leaf and Gentle Leaf from Parsley Cardstock.  Diecut Tilth Floral from Wisteria Cardstock (the back of the cardstock is shown here) - leave it in the die and attach a 1" square piece of doublestick tape to the back.  Press the tape firmly to secure each of the petals, then pop it out of the die.  This creates a delicate outline flower with attached petals.

Cut a 3.25" square of the Viola 6x6 background print an round the corners.  Ink the edges with Grape Slushy, then attach it to the Basic Necessities Tin.  Attach the leaves to the center of the flower.  Attach foam dots to 3 or 4 petals to add dimension to the flower, then attach the flower to the background.

Diecut the longer label from the Primo Labels die and stamp Wishing You Combo (there's a musical note stamp attached to the side of the stamp) using a stamp positioner and Grape Slushy.  Attach the label to the background.  Press three 1/8" foam dots near the bottom right corner and press Ocean Spray Glitter onto the adhesive.  Attach Scor-Tape to scrap purple cardstock and press Grape Fizz Glitter onto the adhesive.  Punch a 1/2" circle of the glittered cardstock and attach it to the flower.

Poppy Silhouette

No doubt about it, I have so much fun working with the new Memory Box stamps, papers and dies.   I love combining different dies when designing cards.  Some dies obviously go together so I try to challenge myself to mix it up and think "Outside the Box".  Here's my latest card using all three elements in ways that are unusual for me.

Black flowers?  New for me but I love them...they're so dramatic!

  1. Starting with the new slate notecards, trim 1" off the front.  Adhere a soft yellow panel, stamped with the Mercer Rose Background (G1842) in gray ink, onto the inside right edge.  Add a 1/8" strip of black paper alongside the panel.
  2. Using the Cornerstone Seal die (#98293) cut one from Polka Polka paper (#10153) and another from Sweet Corn cardstock (#44042).  Snip the connecting paper to separate the centers from the outstide zig-zag borders. Stamp Mercer Rose background onto the yellow circle; Place the outside zig zag border from the Polka Polka paper together on the base card.
  3. Cut the Prim Poppy (#98310) from black licorice cardstock (#44022); tuck the poppy stems beneath the polka dot layer. Cut a second poppy in black and layer only the petal portion.
  4. Add pale yellow suede trim and paper flower to finish!

Love Scrapling

A mini card using up some scraps and the fantastic new dies and stamps:

P1010519

I had a lovely little scrap of sticky back canvas, kraft cardstock and a few dies previously cut but not yet used.  I pulled them together in a scrapling card.

The size doesn't matter it is a great way to use up scraps and make a little card to share with someone. :)

I stamped the beautiful dream definition over the canvas using brown archival ink. The canvas was misted with orange glimmer mist and sponged with brown dye ink around the edges.  The Love sentiment was stamped on another little scrap of canvas. I distressed the edge to give a rough edge.

The flower was stamped twice on white cardstock and colored with glimmer mist on the flower and the rest colored with water color pencils. I cut the second flower and bent the petals to form a flower.  The butterfly background was glimmer misted and the outline sponged with brown dye ink.
