Lazy Days

Wow....this heat...!   It's just the beginning of June and it already feels like the lazy hazy days of summer.  Gotta love the midwest "heat index"!

When I sat down to play with my stamps yesterday I thought of summers as a kid.  We didn't have a lot but we had a lot of fun.  Sundays were always spent at my grandma's on the farm.  We'd either play in the woods, go fishing, play in the creek, or go swimming in the farm pond.  Which in hind sight was really quite gross and disgusting.  But we loved it none the less.  I think my grandma had 29 grandkids so it was craziness and mayhem all the time!

That brings me to my card.  This card features On the Lake F1770.  It's one of my favorite stamps because you can use so many mediums to color it....Copics, watercolor pencils, Twinkling H2O's, Prismacolor pencils..

I chose to color the image with Twinkling H2O's on cold-press watercolor paper.

Twinkling H2O's used:

  • Sky:  Blue Ice
  • Water:  Rich Cobalt (with lots of water)
  • Grass:  Sunflower, Key Lime and Forest Green
  • Tree trunk:  Burnt Umber
  • Leaves:  Key Lime and Wild Vine
  • Boat:  Oyster and Hot Cinnamon

The card is 5 X 5 Kraft card stock layered with River Dance and Licorice paper.   Hope you enjoy!

Your card and story bring back so many memories for me too! My bro & I would always be sent to Grandma's farm for a week each summer which was a real treat for us "tender-footed" city kids (we lived in Chicago suburbs). It was the highlight of our summer as we went swimming in the city pool with our cousins, fished for catfish in small ponds/lakes and had fresh fried catfish for dinner, gathered fresh eggs, fed the pigs & cows, explored the farmland. It was heaven on earth! Thanks for the darling card and the sweet memories.

Love the card Linda and miss your smiling face. Hope to take a class with you again soon. FYI - where can I now get Memory Box?? Any suggestions??

Hi, Deb! Prairie Art Stamps in Springfield carries the complete line of Memory Box. Look for the new What's in The Box images out then end of this month! Teaching there on Thursday, July 7!!

Pretty card, Linda!! Hope to take another class with you whenever I'm up your way!
