Bubba's Baby Shower

I'm so excited to feature some of the new baby stamps from Memory Box!  These will be arriving in your favorite stamp store soon...

When I first laid eyes on Bubba Elephant (D1741), it was love at first sight!  How cute is he?!

Do you ever have those nights when you dream about card layouts or designs?....please tell me I'm not the only one.  Well, this is the card I designed Sunday night...blame it on the awesome thunderstorm we had!

Bubba's Baby Shower

Instructions:

  • I started with a Squash Note Card and adhered a 4" X 5 1/4" Mocha mat to it.
  • Cut a piece of 12 X 12 Fresh Fruit paper to 3 7/8" X 5 1/8"
  • Ink up Bubba Elephant with brown ink (I used Archival Ink in Coffee) and stamp Bubba in the lower right corner of the Fresh Fruit paper.
  • Ink up Bubba again and stamp on a piece of Elephant Party paper.  Cut this elephant out trimming off the tail...don't worry...it won't hurt a bit! Then adhere this cut out elephant over the stamped elephant on the Fresh Fruit paper.
  • Next, I cut 4 pieces of Squash Distressed Dots paper to 2 1/2" X 3/4".  Folded in half and trimmed to make 4 little flags or pennants.   Now, of course, I would recommend using either the new Big Banner (D1708) or Little Banner (A1707) stamps, but I don't have them!  EEK!  Guess what's going on my wish list!
  • Next, I took the new Bold Baby (C1754) stamp and using a watercolor marker, colored each letter of the stamp and separately stamped on one of the flags.  Be sure to clean your stamp between colorings.
  • I folded the little flags over about a 6" piece of brown baker's twine and then adhered the two sides of the flags together.
  • Tie a small bow on the right side of the baker's twin and using just a tiny bit of Dries Clear glue, attach to Bubba's trunk.
  • Line up your flags up the left side of the Fresh Fruit paper and adhere the left side of the baker's twine with a small piece of wonder tape.
  • I threaded a separate piece of baker's twine through a small green button and tied in a bow.  I attached this button to the card with Dries Clear glue.
  • I added a small glue dot behind each of the flags to hold them in place
  • Ink up the Marquis Border (B1705) with brown ink and stamp on Squash Distress Dots paper.  Cut out around the outside border leaving just a bit of the yellow showing.
  • Ink up the Marquis Border again and stamp on white paper.
  • The Bold Baby stamp is one of those great stamps with an image or word stamped on the side.  This stamp has the word "shower" on the side.  I love that Dave designs his stamps this way!  It's like getting two stamps for the price of one!  Ink up the word "shower" with brown ink and stamp in the middle of the Marquis Border on the white paper.
  • Cut out this image around the inner dotted line.  Attach this piece to the yellow frame and attach to the top right of the Fresh Fruit paper with foam tape.
  • Finally, I attached this layer to my card front.
  • To finish off the card, I added Star Dust Stickles around the white frame and I added stickles to the letters in BABY.

Hope you enjoyed my card and have a wonderful day!!
