A Tisket, A Tasket . . .
Welcome to the second of three card posts today celebrating the Memory Box/Creative Imaginations blog hop. To read more about the hop and learn how you can win prizes, check out the post here.
I know it's only the beginning of April (and the beginning of our blog collaboration with Twinkling H2Os!), but it's not to early to start thinking about creating Easter baskets. I wanted to make something a little different this year for my mother's Easter basket, something that conjures up memories of childhood, hers and mine. When I was a child, Mom taught me how to make paper cones like the ones she made as a child for May baskets. I often made paper cones and filled them with wildflowers or other treats for Mom at Easter or for her birthday in early May. I decided that I would try using Memory Box stamps and Twinkling H2Os to create a paper cone filled with flowers to tuck into Mom's Easter basket.
Stamps:
- E1760 Gorgeous Bloom
- B1761 Gorgeous Mini Bloom
- G1719 Fine Fern Print
- D1363 Spring Branch
- C1721 Grass Print
- D1415 Cedar Sprig
- E1711 Circle Word Background
- C1714 Cocoa Bean Butterfly
Waterproof Inks:
- Ancient Page Sage
- Archival Olive
- Archival Olympia Green
- Archival Library Green
Twinkling H2Os:
- Mallard
- Lemongrass
- Yellow Rose
- Ginger Peach
- Solar Gold
- Sunflower
Ribbon:
- 7/8" Lemongrass Offray (JoAnn's)
I began by inking up all of the stamps with various waterproof inks in shades of green, and I stamped them on 140 lb. cold press watercolor paper. I misted the Twinkling H2Os before beginning and used very wet brushes while painting. I used the Twinkling H2Os in Lemongrass and Mallard to paint over the fern, cedar, grass, and spring branch images. I added just a little bit of Sunflower to each of the grass prints. I used all of the colors to paint the mini and larger roses, using several colors on each flower for more depth and interest. I used Lemongrass and Solar Gold on the butterflies and Lemongrass over the Circle Word Background.
Once dry I trimmed out all of the images. I used pop dots to layer the blooms, trimming a few of the large blooms down to create a middle layer for most of the flowers. I used smaller pop dots to layer four of the butterflies together and popped it on top of the Circle Word Background. I made several clusters of greens, gluing them to the larger ferns.
I adhered together two pieces of 6X6 Memory Box paper from my stash and rolled it up to make a cone. I used doublesided tape to hold the edge closed. I used glue dots to place the Circle Word Background near the top of the cone and added a lemongrass ribbon tied around the cone and over the circle, also held in place with a glue dot.
I arranged the flower bouquet on a scrap piece of Memory Box paper and used glue dots and pop dots to secure the greens and blooms together. I used a glue dot to secure the bottom flower in the bouquet to the inside of the cone's front. I stuffed tissue paper behind the flowers to fill the cone and keep the bouquet near the front of the cone.
I think Mom will enjoy this very pretty everlasting bouquet!
Happy Stamping (and painting with Twinkling H2Os)! Don't forget to leave a comment for a chance to win one of the Twinkling H2O petite paint kits.
This is such a sweet little project - I never know what to get my 86 year old mom for Mother's Day and I think you've just helped me decide! Thank you.

My mom taught us something similar as kids, folding down the cone sides so you'd have a quick and easy water cup whenever you needed it. But I like this interpretation much more. Very pretty!
