Crystal Snowflake

This is going to be a very exciting week here on the blog. Design team members have been playing with the new images from the "Winter Nature" release and we have lots to share with you.

Wow! I hope you saw the morning post today. Aren't those charms and jewelry pieces Suzz made from the Crystal Snowflake stamp just amazing! Like Suzz, I was also drawn to this Crystal Snowflake image. I wanted to pair it with the Renaissance Tile for a winter card.  I don't particularly care for the cold, dark days of winter, but I do love snowflake images, and this one's a winner for me.

Here's a sneak peek featuring these two new stamps and a new pattern paper as well.

In addition to the Renaissance Tile (G1404) and the Crystal Snowflake (E1410), I also added the tiny snowflake trio to the card which is the bonus image on the side of Snow Day (B1378) from theTinsel collection.

You may also notice an interesting pattern paper as part of my background. This is one design in a series of new 8.5 x 11 papers just released. They are Distressed Dots, Sicily and Moroccan, and they are available in 3 colors - which match the Vanilla Bean, Cranberry and Thistle notes perfectly.

My card base is a Thistle note with the matching Moroccan paper, along with a piece of Cranberry note for accent.  I stamped the Renaissance image over the new Moroccan paper with Brilliance Poppy Red ink and embellished it with Red and Sparkling Diamond Jewels from the Christmas set. I inked the snowflake trio in Brilliance Jade and stamped it along the right edge of the card. The ink is pearlescent so it balances the bling on the left.

I stamped the Crystal Snowflake, also in Poppy Red, on the backside of the Moroccan paper. The pattern is only on one side, so I often use the plain side for things like this so I know it will be in a similar tone. For example, the Moroccan paper has more of an underlying cream tone, rather than being very white, so I know the snowflake layer will blend nicely with the pattern paper.

I handcut the snowflake, laid it over a piece of Cranberry note, and handcut a slightly larger layer. I used Mint Pearls and a Red Jewel to make the snowflake center really pop. I embellished the rest with Sparkling Diamond Jewels which I colored with a Coral Sea Copic marker to match the Thistle papers.

If you find yourself low on colored Jewels or there isn't a color to match your work - just take out those Copic markers and start coloring your Sparkling Diamond Jewels! These alcohol-based markers dry quickly on the Jewels and allow you to have just about any color you need.

So, now you have a few ideas for using the new Crystal Snowflake stamp, and we are just getting started! There will be two blog posts each day this week featuring all the stamps in this new release. Don't miss the great ideas, the fun contests and many chances to win awesome Memory Box prizes all week long! Two random winners will be picked from everyone who leaves a comment on the blog this week and each will win a $50 Memory Box prize pack.

Watch your local craft stores for the arrival of Winter Nature so you can start playing, too.

very pretty. I hadn't heard of memory box stamps till a visit to the west side of the state of washington in september and all I can say is I want them ALL. I bought most of the halloween line and several others on my trip and they stamp up beautifullly.

Really a beautiful card! I didn't think I'd be so happy to see snowflakes this early, but the Crystal and Trio snowflakes are welcome any season here in my home. Beautiful new paper patterns, and love the coordinating solid color on the reverse. Makes crafting so much simpler.

Great card - I'm starting to get in the Christmas groove!
