Going gray today - in a very special way, with my new favorite Soiree color - SLATE! I thought it would be fun to create a Valentine card - and celebrate another decade of life with a medley of grays. Wasn't it just a short time ago that we were so concerned about transitioning into Y2K ??
I love Slate - it's not your typical drab, overcast-sky gray. It's a deep, rich gray, with a pearly sheen that's perfect with just about every Soiree Shimmer and Matte Cardstock shade. Soiree Silver Shimmer Cardstock, ColorBox Fluid Chalk Gray Whale and Charcoal Inkpads and Memory Box Berry Pearl Stickers teamed up with Slate for this card.
Another new favorite featured here is Leaf Canopy (F1430) - a versatile stamp for any occasion. It can be stamped in layers, vertically, horizontally or angled. Your choice of color determines the season and mood of the design - it's great any time of the year. See the other great stamps - and papers - from our just-released Valentine Delights Collection here.
The glittered birds are from the Memory Box Collection Design Adhesives. They're perfect with Leaf Canopy because you can place them wherever you want among the leaves and branches - then add Ruby Slippers Glitter, Designer Foils, or flocking. I wasted a crazy amount of time deciding where to burnish them, concerned they'd be heavy and "bend" the branches if I put them in the wrong spot. The glitter, foils and flocking are opaque - so you can place the birds anywhere, and they'll be just fine. Really!
i love this color combo.the berry color is just wow with this. i dont know that i would have thought to incorporate that color so thank you for showing how gorgeous it goes together. i also have been turning to slate, also black and kraft colors as of late. theres just that warm inviting feeling to them.
