A festive card with lots of sparkle lets us play with some of the fun new "toys" available this holiday season. A rope-jumping deer, Christmas Jewels, Sparkle Fibers, Smooch and lots of ruby-red glitter - is there anything else we need on a Christmas card?
Gone are the days of thick gold-embossed images, filled in with bright markers, looped with strands of raffia. If you're too young to remember this - ask your mom, or your grandmother. We still stamp, emboss, color, and glitter - but with a whole new stash of products that make things faster, easier and better.
We're using the
Brighter Days stamps, and papers from Memory Box and Poppystamps - and blinging them with Smooch Inks, Sparkle Fibers and glitter from Clearsnap this weekend. It's a class called "The Magic of Memory Box" at Stampin' in the Rain on Saturday.
Then, on Sunday - it's the "Cards for a Cause" class at Impress. We'll make cards and a little fold-out book in an assortment of purples - eggplant, lavender, violet and grape - to benefit the Alzheimer's Association. A portion of the class fees will be donated to the Association on behalf of the class, in remembrance of my mother. It'll be an art-inspired version of the Memory Walk, supporting a most deserving cause.
