More "greetings-to-go"

The Memory Box Design Team has created two more easy and elegant cards to share with you here. Color-copy the text - then add a handmade touch with stamps from the 2009 Christmas and Fall Collection.

Multi-colored stamping is a quick way to add interest to any project. Apply the lighter ink(s) first, then the darker shade(s).  Add moisture to the inked image by quickly passing the stamp thru a mist of water spritzed into the air, then stamp.  Or - exhale on the inked image (they call it "huffing"), then stamp. You're probably laughing right now - if you've taken my classes - because you know what I think about huffing.

Layering inks is another simple way to add colors.  Dry each ink thoroughly before adding another layer. This prevents the stamp from slipping on the wet ink, keeps the colors sharp and distinct, and minimizes the transfer of inks from one inkpad to another.

Warm Wishes

Here's another simply elegant - or elegantly simple - holiday card from the Memory Box Design Team. Print the text with a color copier,  stamp Poinsettia Silhouette,  attach Moss Green Jewels from the Christmas Jewel Stickers set - and the creative part is done!

The rich luster of the Soiree Cardstock complements the Pearlescent Poppy poinsettia. Jewel Stickers add the finishing touch.  This would also be a great design for Christmas Dinner invitations and menus. Matching placecards would be beautiful too - just ink the big poinsettia, (without the stem and leaves) and add the jewels.

Celebrations

Sometimes you want to spend an entire afternoon or evening making a few very special cards - and sometimes you don't.  Handmade invitations and placecards are beautiful and add a special touch to your event - but they can be time-consuming if you have a long guestlist.  

The Memory Box Design Team has created some great holiday projects that reflect your creative spirit - but are still quick and easy.  They feature our Christmas and Fall 2009 designs - and the beautiful colors, textures and finishes of the Soiree Collection of cards, envelopes and cardstock.

We've added a new Soiree section to our Ideas Gallery. It's where we'll be sharing designs like these two projects -  combining the efficiency and speed of color printing or copying - and the special touch of individually-stamped images.  

 

Calling All Spiders

The Bramble Wreath - covered with Web Crawler spiders and orange jewels (think pumpkin lights) - makes it easy to send a creepy, crawly fall message.  Halloween Jewel Stickers accent the spiders and brighten the wreath too.

It would be fun to make several versions of this card - with spiders crawling in different directions, and with the alpha-spider hanging at varying heights.

Got Treats?

A penguin in a bumblebee costume, dangling spiders and a dotty orange moon set the scene for an evening of tricks and treats.  The Black Onyx stickers from the Halloween Jewel Stickers set are perfect for those fall spiders - and pick up a few extra sets for picnic ants on next summer's projects.

If you like the Memory Box Penguins - and live in the Seattle area - we're doing another Penguin Calendar class at the Tukwila Impress on Sunday, November 8th.  The class isn't listed on the schedule, but it's happening that weekend.  Like last year's sold-out class, we'll be filling a large Impress Calendar with Dave's penguins, backgrounds from Memory Box,  Impress and Savvy, and journaling blocks to list important events and reminders.

This weekend's Boo! Classes at Stampin' in the Rain on Saturday - and Impress on Sunday - feature the great new fall and Halloween stamps and Jewel Stickers, Smooch Inks and a bunch of fun techniques.
