Vintage Dress

The new Dress Form Clear Set has so many possibilities.  Here's an easy idea - just stamp it over a sheet from the Fernbrae 6x6 Set and adorn with a row of Berry Pearl Sticker "buttons."  I wanted to give the card a nostalgic found-in-the-attic look, so I combined two other images from the set (unside-down) to create an old-fashioned dress stand.  

The new A2-sized Scalloped Postcards are a great addition to our stationery product line.  They're easy to use, color-coordinated with our printed sheets, and add a fresh look to cards and layouts.

 

Yes - I know I said I'd do a Smooch card on this post, but I just had to make this dress card - before I forgot my idea.  Hope you like it anyway!

Line of Lions

The new Hear Me Roar Clear Set makes it easy to say "thanks" - as in thanks for all of your great entries in the InKollage $100 Memory Box Bucks Contest.  We received so many wonderful cards with the Birds, Blooms and Bling theme - it'll be hard to pick just one winner!

These friendly lions are hard to resist...they just make you want to smile.  And...words from five of the new clear sets - Hear Me Roar, All Ears, Giraffe Party, Little Birdie and High Wire Bear - can be mixed and matched to create dozens of  greetings.  Hope your Retailer has ordered all ten of the sets because we'll be posting fun new card, scrapbook and papercraft projects featuring the new designs.

We'll be using Smooch Inks and another new clear set on my next post. Or, if you're in the Seattle area for the holiday weekend, join us at the Tukwila Impress store on Memorial Day for the Guy-Cards class. We'll make four cards for "the guys"  including...the Tufted Owl highlighted with Smooches, a deceptively-simple origami fish and a bold, bright Glitterati card designed to use the little paper leftovers that are just too good to throw away.   All this - and air-conditioning too!

Hoop-Star

The June calendar features one of our new clear sets - Hoop Penguin.  This guy is so good, he can even score points with the basket behind him.  That's why he's #1!

If you aren't working on a penguin calendar, this would also be great for Father's Day, graduations or birthdays - or just to tell someone what a superstar he is.

People always ask about buying clear sets. Buy a set only if you like the designs - not because it seems like a bargain to get so many images. If a set contained 50 images and you only use 3 of them, it's not such a great deal, is it?  This calendar page (or card idea) uses 8 of the 12 images in the set - definitely

a good deal here!

A New Birdie

Here are two more pages from the book - and a chance to meet a bird from the new Little Birdie Clear Set...

Everything here is stamped with VersaFine Onyx Black, embossed with clear powder, then edged with more Onyx Black.  Brighter Days and Funky Fresh are 12x12 sheets.

Cut a 6" square of Key Lime Biscotti for the left page.  Add a rectangle cut from Brighter Days and edged with Onyx Black. Add three Canary Yellow Jewel Stickers and three teal buttons. Print the quote on Endive Cardstock, cut it out, ink the edges and attach it with foam tape.

Stamp and emboss Flutter Chick (B1250) and the Little Birdie short legs  on Brighter Days. Stamp and emboss Flutter Chick and the Little Birdie bird twice on Funky Fresh.  Cut one of each out and attach them to the stamped and embossed background.  For contrast, use a Fiskars teardrop punch (or hand-cut) Flutter Chick's other pair of top wings and layer it over his original set of wings.  Cut the bird's wing out and layer it over his original wing. 

Punch the 7/8" circles of Key Lime Biscotti, ink the edges and attach them to the background.  Attach Canary Yellow Jewel Stickers to the trees.

Wildflowers and Butterflies

Here's another page from the book, on a background of Lavender Biscotti.

Cappa Flourish (B1264) from the Sparkly Bird Bonanza is stamped twice with Brilliance Graphite Black on Amethyst Cardstock.  Graphite Black is also used to stamp the other images - and edge the pieces. The quote is printed on Robins Egg Cardstock.  A 7/8" circle is punched from Wildflower Garden.  A rectangle of Oh So Hip adds a soft teal background.  Wildflower Garden and Oh So Hip are 12x12 sheets. Juicy Plum Jewel Stickers highlight the punched circle.

The next page is layered on a background of Wildflower Garden...

Butterfly Collage (E1060) is stamped on Amethyst Cardstock.  The butterfly section is stamped again on Oh So Hip, then cut and attached to the collage  with foam tape.  Periwinkle (B1181) is stamped on Oh So Hip, cut, and foam-taped to the collage.  The collage is layered over a block of Oh So Hip.  Deep Lagoon Jewel  Stickers are attached to the butterflies and the Poolside  block.  Three buttons are added between the wildflowers.

Butterflies

A quote from the book and more butterflies...

A 6" square piece cut from a 12x12  By the Pond  sheet is the background here.  It's topped by  a block cut from a sheet of Poolside, edged with VersaMagic Turquoise Gem.  Punched circles from Poolside are edged with Turquoise Gem, then daubed with a dot of the same ink.  An edged quote is layered over everything.  Diamond Jewel Stickers and Mint Pearl Stickers are added as accents.

Solid Butterfly (B1048) and Swirled Butterfly (D1059), stamped in VersaMagic Turquoise Gem on Robins Egg Cardstock, are layered over Script Block (E453), stamped in VersaFine Smokey Grey.  Diamond Jewel Stickers accent the butterflies.

Getting ready for a class at Impress tomorrow - "Guy-Cards,"  where we'll be using the new Smooch Inks to add pearly layers of color to our stamped images.  Tufted Owl (D1255) is a great image to Smooch, with its large open spaces and patterned details. 

 

The Book

Have you ever automatically accepted a bigger-than-usual project or assignment and told yourself you'd figure it out "later?"  Then, all of a sudden, it was due in a few days?  That was quite an incentive to get started on the 10-page 7 Gypsies chipboard book that Dave sent me a few weeks ago.  I finished the book, then re-did half of it, adding quotes about birds, butterflies and flying.   

I'll post sections of the book - and hope to turn it into a a two-part class for Impress and Stampin'-in-the-Rain this summer.  It's the first book I've ever made - and when I UPS-d it, it was almost hard to part with it.  Dave did all of the beautiful photography, and made it look really special.

Here's a close-up from the cover - it's titled "wings - birds, butterflies, thoughts and wishes."  A 6-inch square cut from the 12x12 Nana's Garden sheet was simply accented with a title block, Berry Pearl Stickers and Petal Pink Jewel Stickers.  How easy is that?

A Note of Thanks

Save some design time by taking an idea from one card - and, with a few quick changes - creating a new motif for another card.  Here's a variation of a card posted earlier - same inks, Fernbrae 6x6 Set, Cappa Flourish and Heart Sprinkles - with a different wordstamp.

The theme (my little interpretation of "weathered elegance") combines a soft time-worn look with the rich pearlescence of Soireee 24-Karat Cardstock and Brilliance Inkpads.  

It's a concept we'll explore in this Sunday's "In Other Words" class at Impress.  We'll be using a lot of stamps, our favorite Memory Box papers, Smooch Accent Inks and Brilliance Inkpads to create 4 basic cards.  Then, with a few changes, we'll create second versions of those 4 cards - totaling 8 quick cards to thank, celebrate or congratulate.

Singing Chick

Perched Chick - from the Woodland Springtime Collection - sings a happy tune on a cheery Fernbrae background.  Make a card for Mother's Day - and while you're at it, make a few extras for other events too. It can also say happy birthday, thanks, get well, hello, good job and you're a winner.

A Wedding Wish

The Cappa Flourish - from the Sparkly Bird Bonanza - adds a romantic accent to a wedding card here. Stamping it twice, with a tiny bit of an overlap, creates a perfect spot to add the heart.  It's probably the fastest, easiest card I've made this year!

The wedding season is already here, and the Fernbrae 6x6 Set is filled with floral and flourish prints perfect for weddings, showers and anniversaries.  Pair the prints and Memory Box stamps with elegant pearlescent cardstock and envelopes from the Soiree Collection to create unique cards for summer

celebrations.
