Glitterati {Fun}

This weekend, I saw an ad on the Vera Bradley site.  It had bright flowers on a white background. As soon as I saw it, I knew what I was going to create!  So, I grabbed the bright and wonderful Memory Box Glitterati papers and got to work!

First, I gathered my Glitterati scraps and my Memory Box Swish Flower {D698} stamp.  I stamped five flowers on the scraps.  I also recycled a Memory Box white notecard that Dave's wife, Monica, sent to me.  She had written a nice note on one side but the other side of the card was not used.  So, why not recycle a part of it! :)

Then I cut out the flowers, punched a border on the edge of the white notecard, and played with some ribbon. I wasn't sure if I wanted to use the green or orange ribbon for my card. What do you think I should use?  Can you guess what I picked?  You will see here in just a minute.

Then I took the ribbon I chose and wove it through the punched border.  I also stitched a black seam along the edge of my card.  And did you guess I would pick orange? Would that have been your choice?

And here is the final product.  I love bright, and this just turned out exactly as I had hoped!

Post-It Note Holder

I have several old stamp blocks sitting around, and as I looked at the taller one this weekend I thought "This would make a great post-it note holder."  So, I grabbed some Memory Box Glitterati and got to work!

First I used the Memory Box Alpha Background stamp {E996} to stamp out letters onto Memory Box sugar plum paper.  I am going to cut out letters to make a word from the alpha background stamp.  This is such a versatile stamp.  I need to share it a lot with you in the future!
 
Next I cut down a piece of Glitterati paper to fit the block.  I then inked the edges of the paper and adhered it to the block.  You can also see how I have my letters cut out and mounted onto a piece of Memory Box parsley paper.  I also have my ribbon cut and ready to use on the block too.
 
For my next step, I attached the ribbon and my "note" word.  Then I cut down a piece of acetate to adhere to the paper on the block.  This way, I can attached different post-its over and over again without ever ruining the Glitterati paper below.

The pink post-its aren't quite that bright in real life but I just had to use pink. :) I can certainly use yellow, green, light pink, or any fun brightly-colored post-its since the Glitterati paper is full of many bright colors.

I think this would make a great gift for anyone--co-worker, child, teacher, friend, family member, church volunteers/staff, etc.  And think of the different post-it sizes you can use with different sized stamp blocks.  Very fun!  I hope you enjoyed this little tutorial.  Have a great day!

Circles, Circles, Circles!

I love the Memory Box sentiment stamp that says "You're Fun to be Around" {B1214}.  Well, I thought I would use this stamp for a fun card and incorporate some circles because of the word "around" in the sentiment.  So, I picked up the Memory Box Bright Sun stamp {B1209}, and got to work.  First, I used VersaMark to stamp the "sun" three times on black cardstock.  I then embossed them in white and punched them out with my 1" circle punch.  I forgot to use my embossing buddy, and with black and white, it is really important.  Ugh!  If you don't use it, it causes some of the embossing powder to stray and stick places where you don't want it to be.

Next, I grabbed my Glitterati paper and attached it to the bottom portion of the Memory Box parsley notecard {22030}, added some ribbon, and my embossed circles, and it was almost complete.  To finish, I added some Memory Box pearl stickers.  And there you have it!

Grab Some Glitterati!

I love bright colors, and the Glitterati papers are full of them! Today, I decided to play with a new technique I learned and use the Glitterati paper too!

First, I stamped the Memory Box Swish Flower {D698} onto white cardstock using VersaMark and then embossing in clear embossing powder.  This allows you to wet the paper and using your inks, you can get a watercolor effect.  Mine didn't turn out quite that great but instead of trashing them, I decided to use them!  Watch how they go from a runny mess to "not so bad" on the finished card.  Also, in the photo below, you can see how I stamped the Open Poppy {F703} in VersaMark and embossed also. I did not end up using it for this card but I will save it for a future creation. :)

After letting my paper dry overnight, I cut out my flowers.  I then grabbed a piece of chipboard and cut off the end. It was too long for the card thus I cut off a piece. I saved the smaller piece to use later on a future card or layout.
 
Then I covered the chipboard in Glitterati paper, sanded the edges, and added a bit of ink.  My flowers still look rather messy but I then dressed them up with Memory Box pearl stickers in hot pink! I love these pearl stickers because you can use the entire strip or just use one or two at a time--whatever your creation needs!
 
Didn't the pearls dress up my messy flowers? They are starting to look a bit better now!  Glad I didn't trash them!  :)  And here you can see my finished card:

Finishing Our Notepad!

Welcome back!  Today we are going to finish the notepad we started making yesterday. If you missed that post, look here.  To begin today:

1.  Cut a 3x3 piece of Glitterati.  Distress the edges.  I used my Bind-it-All to make a notebook edge.
2.  Stamp sentiment onto your 3x3 piece using the Memory Box Just a Note {B1053} stamp.  I used black ink and embossed in clear embossing powder.
 
3.  Attach to the front of you notepad piece we made yesterday out of the Biscotti paper.
4.  Cut a 5" piece of ribbon, and using Glue Dots, attach to the bottom segment of your notepad.  Wrap edges around the back of the bottom segment.
5.  Place your scrap paper down into the bottom segment of your notepad.
6.  Use your Crop-a-Dile to punch two holes completely through the ribbon, bottom section, and scrap paper.  You will insert your brads through these two holes.  This is what will hold the scrap paper in your notepad.  They are also easy to remove when refilling your notepad.


7.  The back should look like this.  I like to use larger brads so that the prongs are nice and long and can hold a larger amount of paper if I wish.
 
8. Now finish decorating the front.  When you are done, tuck the longer top flap into the bottom section just like a matchbook, and you are finished!

Grab Some Glitterati & Biscotti for a Notepad!

Some of you may have seen the notepads I make.  I have posted several on my personal blog.  Well, they make great teacher gifts or even a nice little "extra" for Mom for Mother's Day.  They fit in your purse, and you can use junk paper on the inside so they are great for everyone.  Plus you are recycling that junk paper!  I thought I would take today and Friday to share step-by-step instructions on how to make these.

First, grab some Glitterati and Biscotti paper.  This is what I will be using for this particular notepad.  I love the colors!

1.  Cut a 3 1/2" x 10" piece of Biscotti robins egg paper.
2.  Score at 1 1/4" and again at 6".  Fold along score lines. It should look like a matchbook.
3.  Distress and ink all edges.

Now start cutting some scrap paper to 4 1/2" x 3 1/4".  This is what you will fill the inside of your notepad with.  I usually fill with 20-25 sheets.
 
I also always write on the inside of the notepad the size I cut the scrap paper.  That way when the recipient runs out of paper, they will know what size I used so they can refill their notepad.

Now for tomorrow, be sure to have some ribbon, stamps, brads, and maybe some Memory Box jewels and pearls ready.  I will show you how to finish this off and how I attach the scrap paper. Until then,

Fix Those Mistakes with Memory Box Pearls!

Okay, so this post was meant to be about making a Mother's Day card for your mother, mother-in-law, sister, etc.; however, I had several mistakes on this card so I thought instead that I would show you how to fix those little "boo-boos."  :)

First, I started this card by stamping the beautiful Vine Heart {D377} on Azalea {77120} paper using VersaMark ink and Ranger seafoam white embossing powder.  Well, after embossing, I noticed I didn't get the upper right corner of the heart inked or embossed.  Ugh!  Can you see it?

In a minute, I will show you what I did to fix it.  Then I got my Glitterari paper together and started building my card.  I wanted to use only a part of the sentiment from the Peace, Love, and Joy {B1114} stamp, so I only inked that portion of the stamp.  But then, upon lifting my stamp, I noticed I had a dot of black ink to the left of the sentiment.  Ooops.  I guess I am still suffering from jet lag from my trip last week.  Do you see the dot?

So, now we have two mistakes thus far.  In these smaller pictures, the mistakes are hard to see but believe me, if I mailed you this card you would have seen them.  Remember, you can always click on the images to see a larger picture. :)

To fix the mistakes, first I used the awesome Memory Box hot pink pearl stickers to cover the black dot.  It worked perfectly.  Then I stapled the heart to the card for a fun embellishment and to cover the part that didn't get stamped or embossed.  Here is how it turned out:

So, think of how you can fix those little mistakes.  The Memory Box jewels and pearls are PERFECT for those little fixes not to mention they are adorable and a great addition to ANY creation!  :) I hope you enjoy this bright colored "fixed" card.  It is going to go to my sister for Mother's Day.
