Memory Box 2012 Holiday Collection!

Okay, it's that time of year--time to start sharing what goodies Memory Box is releasing for the 2012 Holiday Season! So today, I thought I would share a quick card using 4 of the new Memory Box dies that will be released with the Holiday Collection:

Here is the card I created:

Papers: Memory Box distressed mango, dill, mocha, moroccan sqush, and distressed vanilla bean; misc. craft notecard and paper
Stamp Ink: Colorbox Fluid Chalk chestnut roan
Memory Box Die Cuts: Penne Frame 98387, Typewriter Upper Alphabet 98367, Typewriter Lower Alphabet 98366, Fresh Leaves 98406
Other supplies: May Arts twine, American Crafts buttons, Cuttlebug forest branches embossing folder

To create:

1. Die cut 5 leaves using various Memory Box papers with the new Memory Box Fresh Leaves {98406} die. I used Memory Box papers--distressed mango, dill, mocha, and moroccan squash.

2. Sew through the center of each leaf along the embossed line using brown thread. Trim threads and set leaves aside.

3. Die cut the new Memory Box Penne Frame {98387} using Memory Box distressed vanilla bean paper. Set aside.

4. Die cut the word "Fall" using the new Memory Box Typewriter Upper Alphabet {98367} and the Typewriter Lower Alphabet {98366} dies with Memory Box distressed mango paper.

5. Ink the edges of all die cuts (except the lowercase alpha letters) using Colorbox Fluid Chalk chestnut roan ink.

6. Adhere the letters to the die cut frame set aside in Step 3. I used my Xyron X to put adhesive on the letters.

7. Trim a sheet of miscellaneous kraft paper to 4" x 5 1/4" and emboss with an embossing folder. I used the Cuttlebug forest branches folder. Sew around the edges using brown thread. Trim strings.

8. Adhere the embossed piece to your 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" kraft card.

9. Arrange leaves set aside in Step 2, and adhere to your card.

10. To finish, adhere your "fall" frame, and add buttons and twine.

An "Enchanted" Layout

Today I thought I would share my 6x6 layout that I did using Memory Box Enchanted 12x12 papers (Evening, Flowerbud, and Garden) along with lots of other Memory Box goodies.  I also used a sketch from Magistical Memories for fun!

This particular layout is for my scripture album.  I loved how the Memory Box Budding Branch stamp {D1360} looked like vines. It went perfect with my chosen scripture. However, when I used the Budding Branch stamp, some of the ink did not get onto the cardstock because of the "bump" between the two layers of paper.  It is always easy to solve that problem--add a Memory Box jewel or pearl to cover up the incomplete image.  In this case, I used the Memory Box frost blue pearls. You can see what I did in the close-up photo above.  Works great!

Memory Box Design Adhesives!

Did you know that Memory Box now has Design Adhesives?  I decided to play with them today, and they are so fun to use!!!!  You can see them all right here.  I decided to make a simple card to show off these adhesives. I used the snowflake design adhesives for fun! Let's look at how to create this simple and sparkly card.

Papers:  Memory Box kraft cs, Memory Box thistle notecard, Bazzill white cs
Stamp Ink:  Adirondack Juniper, Ranger clear ep
Stamps:  Memory Box Peace Collage G1411
Embellishments: Memory Box design adhesives (snowflakes) and white pearls, Doodlebug lily white glitter, American Crafts ribbon

1. Using the new Memory Box Peace Collage stamp {G1411}, stamp your image onto Memory Box kraft cardstock and emboss with clear embossing powder.
2.  Trim just along the edges and mount onto white cardstock.
3.  Apply the Design Adhesive snowflakes on top of the stamped/embossed snowflakes and add glitter to each snowflake.  Set aside.
4.  Mount a 3 3/8" x 4 3/4" piece of Memory Box kraft cardstock to the center of a Memory Box thistle notecard
5.  Add a ribbon across the width of the card.
6.  Adhere the piece set aside in Step 3 to the front of the card.
7.  Add 3 Memory Box pearls to the right corner to finish.

Pretty Poinsettia

This week I thought I would share some of the new Christmas images with you.  Last week I shared a bit of Halloween, and this week we will focus on Christmas. I wanted to start by sharing two beautiful new Memory Box stamps and one of the new notecard colors--Elemental Damask {C1390}, Poinsettia Outline {D1396} and the Thistle notecard.


Papers:  Memory Box kraft notecard and cs, Memory Box thistle notecard
Stamp Ink:  SU sage shadow, Colorbox Fluid Chalk dark brown
Stamps:  Memory Box Elemental Damask C1390, Memory Box Poinsettia Outline D1396
Embellishments: Derwent watercolor pencils, misc. lace, sewing machine, Stickles diamond 

I did not use a sentiment on this card because I wanted to be able to use this card anytime during the Christmas season or for a thank you card afterwards.  To create this card:

1.  Cut a 3 3/4" x 4 1/4" piece of Thistle paper from the notecard.
2.  Use the Elemental Damask stamp and a stamp positioner to stamp the image all over your cut piece. I also created a "watercolor" effect by inking my stamp and spraying with water each time before I stamped it onto my paper.
3.  Sew lace onto the top and bottom edges.
4.  Stamp the Poinsettia Outline stamp onto a 2 1/4" x 2 3/4" piece of Memory Box kraft cardstock.
5.  Watercolor your image.
6.  Sew this piece onto your thistle cardstock, and adhere entire piece to a Memory Box kraft notecard.
7.  Finish with a dot of Stickles in the middle of the poinsettia.

Cupcake Birthday

Have you seen the new Memory Box Cupcake Sprinkle Surprise release?  Oh my if you haven't, look here and here!  And I had so much fun with the purple the other day, I decided to use the new release with touches of purple again!

Stamps:  Memory Box Happy Birthday Candle C1373, Memory Box Cupcake & Candle D1368
Stamp Ink:  Memento tuxedo black, Colorbox Pigment Ink citrine
Embellishments: Copics BV000 & BV04, Ellen Hutson ribbon, sewing machine  

Both of these new stamps {Happy Birthday Candle and Cupcake & Candle} have a candle on the end of each stamp.  I chose to use the candle that was on the end of the sentiment stamp.  Each candle is slightly different.  I think that's a fun addition to these stamps for sure.

Butterfly Border

Well, sorry I was slow this week.  Just think triplets--two of which got their driver's permits. It has been a SCARY week, and my knees are still shaking.  Do I really have to take them out practicing again today?  LOL!

Anyway, a week or so ago I saw someone create a border on their card using flowers and different bright colors of ink. I thought it would be fun to try it with the Memory Box Dotty Butterfly stamp {C1355} and only using one bright ink color.  This really is a simple and fun card to make.  I have posted the instructions below the photos.

Papers:  Paper Trey Ink cardstock
Stamp Ink:  Colorbox pigment ink mango tango
Stamp:  Memory Box Dotty Butterfly C1355, Memory Box Feel Better Soon B661
Embellishments: Cuttlebug swiss dots embossing folder, Stickles orange peel, Hobby Lobby ribbon

1.  Cut a  4 3/4" x 4" piece of white cardstock.
2.  Stamp Dotty Butterfly three times across the longer edge in any color you choose.
3.  Run the piece through your embossing machine.
4.  Cut out the tops of the butterflies, and tie a ribbon along the bottom of the piece.
5.  Add Stickles for the butterfly bodies and set aside to dry.
6.  Cut a 4 3/4" x 8" piece of white cardstock.
7.  Score in half to make your card.
8.  Add your sentiment to the lower right-hand corner or your card.
9.  Attach the piece you set aside in Step 5 to finish.

Oooh, a card under 10 steps. Love it!  LOL!  I hope you are able to have some creative fun today with these instructions!  Have a blessed Memorial Day weekend! 

Another Butterfly Trio Card

The other day when I created my first Butterfly Trio card, I stamped extra butterflies and had them ready to use for this card.

Papers:  Memory Box Enchanted, Memory Box vanilla bean cs, PTI kraft cs
Stamps:  Memory Box Dotty Butterfly C1355, Memory Box Let's Catch Up B883
Stamp Ink:  Adirondack espresso; Colorbox Fluid Chalk pink pastel
Embellishments:  Memory Box baby pink pearl stickers, misc. ribbon, sewing machine, Flower Soft nut brown

I decided I had better use them up before I forget about them or lose them. :)  You will notice this card has the butterflies stamped in the same color ink whereas the other Butterfly Trio card had them stamped in different colored inks.  I also created a completely different design for this card.  Here are the instructions for this card: 

1.  Cut three 2"x2" squares using Memory Box Enchanted paper.
2.  Using your sewing machine, stitch around each square using brown thread.
3.  Cut a 6 1/4" x 2 1/4" piece of Memory Box vanilla bean cardstock.
4.  Attach the 2x2 squares to the brown piece you cut in Step 3.
5.  Tie a piece of ribbon around the piece between the first and second squares. Set piece aside.
6.  Cut a 8 1/2" x 7" piece of kraft cardstock.  Score and fold in half to create your card.  Your card should measure 4 1/4" x 7".
7.  Cut a 4 1/4" x 3 1/2" piece of Memory Box Enchanted paper.  Stitch top and bottom edges.
8.  Attach that piece to your card 1" up from the bottom of the card.
9.  Sew around the entire edge of your card.
10.  Stamp your sentiment in the lower right hand corner using the Memory Box Let's Catch Up stamp {B883}.
11. Attach piece set aside in Step 5.
12. Stamp three butterflies using Memory Box Dotty Butterfly stamp {C1355}.
13.  Add Flower Soft for the body of each butterfly and let dry.
14.  Once dry, cut out each butterfly and attach to your card with Pop Dots as shown.
15.  To finish, attach Memory Box pearls to the upper right hand corner.
16.  Enjoy!

Note: If you do not want to sew on your papers, try inking or sponging the edges for added definition.

Butterfly Trio

I enjoyed using Flower Soft so much on my last butterfly creation that I decided to try it on a smaller butterfly stamp--the Memory Box Dotty Butterfly stamp {C1355}.  If you missed that creation, see my post here.  Here is today's card:

 

Papers:  Memory Box Gossamer, Memory Box begonia notecard, misc. white cs
Stamps:  Memory Box Dotty Butterfly C1355, Memory Box Very Best B1359
Stamp Ink:  Adirondack espresso; Colorbox Fluid Chalk maroon, dark peony, and pink pastel
Embellishments:  Bazzill ribbon, sewing machine, Cuttlebug Moroccan Screen embossing folder, Flower Soft nut brown

To create this card: 
1.  Stamp the Dotty Butterfly stamp three times onto white cardstock using three different ink colors.
2.  Add Flower Soft to the body of each butterfly and let dry.
3.  After the butterflies are dry, cut each one out and set aside.
4.  Cut a 3 7/8" x 3 1/2" piece of Memory Box Gossamer patterned paper.
5.  Cut a separate 2 1/4" x 4 1/4" piece of white cardstock.
6.  Round the corners of the notecard and of each piece of paper you just cut as seen on the card.
7.  Sew around the edges of the Gossamer paper, and attach to the notecard.
8.  Stamp sentiment onto the white cardstock then emboss the piece of paper.
9.  Tie a ribbon around the white cardstock and attach to the notecard.
10.  Using Pop Dots, attach the 3 butterflies you set aside in Step 3 to finish your card.

I think the Flower Soft on the smaller butterflies work great too. You will need to give it a try on the Memory Box Dotty Butterfly next time you have a butterfly card to create!  I hope you enjoyed today's creation.  Have a great day!
 

Black, White, & Brights!

The other day on a message board there was a poll asking if you liked brights or muted colors.  It got me to thinking--I need to make a card with black, white, and some bright colors.  So, that is how I found inspiration for today's card.

First, I used a Memory Box licorice notecard for the base of my card.  Then I used some miscellaneous white cardstock I had on hand and stamped the Memory Box Mod Tree Border stamp {D1319} in black ink.  Then I stamped the circles in various colors, added some stitching, and a bow to finish.  I love how the black and white make the colors pop.  I hope you enjoy today's inspiration.  See you again soon!
 

The Perfect Touch: Pearls, Stitching, & Ribbon

Oh how I love to sew on my creations. I don't do it very often because it is a pain to get my machine out of the cabinet.  Well, with my new room, I have it out most of the time now so I am hoping to add more stitching to my creations. We will see. :)  But today I wanted to show you how fun a card can be by just dressing it up with a bit of pearls, stitching, and ribbon!

This card was super easy to create but it looked rather boring until I added the little "touches."  I took two pieces of Memory Box Frond 6x6 paper and cut them to fit my card. I wanted a bit of the Memory Box Mocha notecard to show so I left a larger portion showing at the top. Once I cut the Frond pieces to fit, I added brown stitching to match the notecard.  Then I added the ribbon and attached it all to the notecard.

Next, I stamped the Memory Box Flower Bundle stamp {E1321} onto white cardstock, rounded the corners, and inked the edges. After attaching to my card, I finished with Memory Box white pearl stickers.  Just the perfect touches to dress this card up a bit.
