My mother is a wonderful and amazing seamstress. She taught me to sew at a very early age. I believe it was my first hand at crafting. Anyway, I am certainly not as good as Mom but I do have a tremendous passion for it though I seem to mostly sew on paper now. LOL! Anyway, as a Mother's Day gift, I created a dress form for my mother's sewing room. I used the older Memory Box paper called Minuet because it matches her sewing room perfectly! Here is how it turned out:
Dress Form: How Do You Glue
Papers: Memory Box Minuet
Stamps: Memory Box Joy Outline A1379, Orchid Branch Print G1718 (for necklace)
Stamp Ink: Memento tuxedo black, Tim Holtz Distress Ink pumice stone, VersaFine vintage sepia, Ranger clear ep
Paints: Adirondack Dabber pebble, Mod Podge, Glossy Accents, Stickles cinnamon
Embellishments: Memory Box pearls, brown lace from Ellen Hutson, Making Memories teal ledger tiny alpha, Tim Holtz journaling ticket, DMC 3811, 3/4" wood spool from Hobby Lobby, Derwent blue grey (68) watercolor pencil, Zva Creative white roses, misc. tulle, misc. ruler twill, misc. scissors charm
To create the dress form, I painted the dress form first. I then molded the Minuet paper to attach to the dress form. To form the paper, it is best to mist it with water first. After misting and forming, I let it air dry. It dries stiff and very nice. I then attached all paper and embellishments with Glossy Accents. That stuff holds amazingly well.
To create the necklace, I used a part of the Memory Box Orchid Branch Print {G1718} stamp. And for the "joy of sewing" tag at the bottom of the dress form, I used the Memory Box Joy Outline {A1379} stamp.
I love to use stamps and papers to create things other than cards. Most of you know I have a passion for all paper crafting--cards, scrapbook pages, altered art, etc. Once this move is over, get ready for lots of goodies from me. I will have more time on my hands, and I will have a large new crafty space! I can't wait to share with you so please hang in there with me during this "moving time."
Oh and before I forget, there will be a huge blog blitz on the Memory Box DT blog sharing new dies and stamps beginning Monday! You don't want to miss out! So be sure to stop by every day next week on the DT blog! Have a great weekend, and thanks for stopping by!
How beautiful and I love the colors you chose.
