Happy Birthday Cupcake

This card was completely inspired by a Current catalog cover that I got in the mail a while back.  The cover was done in these colors with cupcakes.  With the Memory Box Cupcake Sprinkle Surprise release, I thought it would make a perfect birthday card!  Here is how I created today's card:

1.  Cut a 4 1/8" x 4" piece of Memory Box granny smith cardstock.
2.  Emboss this piece and sand the embossing.
3.  Wrap a 4 1/2" piece of ribbon around the bottom of this piece and attach to a white A2 notecard.
4.  On scraps of white cardstock, stamp your Memory Box Cherry Cupcake stamp {C1372} three times and color each cupcake as desired.
5.  Cut each cupcake out and attach to your card as shown.
6.  To finish, stamp the sentiment and add Stickles to the cupcakes and pearls to the card.

Use Your Memory Box CS for a Reference Book!

Memory Box cardstock is not only amazing for cards, layouts, and other paper crafting projects, but it is also perfect for making a reference book!  You are probably wondering what kind of reference book!  Well, if you have seen my last few posts about embossing and sanding Memory Box cardstock, you can use that same technique to make a reference book of all of your embossing folders!  It works perfectly!  Here is what I did.

First I cut a lot of 2 1/4" square pieces of Memory Box cardstock. Memory Box cardstock is perfect because it has a white core. The white core shows your embossing beautifully after sanding. I used scraps from my scrap box. You will want to use fairly dark paper so your embossing shows up after sanding too. The colors scraps I had on hand were Memory Box vanilla bean, dill, sapphire, and blueberry.  These colors worked really well!

 
Then I quickly ran the paper scraps and all of my embossing folders and plates through my Big Shot. I did this for each embossing folder or plate that I have (Cuttlebug, Sizzix, and SU). After I embossed a piece, I used my sanding block to sand the piece of paper. I then mounted each sample on a piece of printer paper, wrote the embossing folder name down, and put it in my reference binder. Here are a few samples pages of how they turned out:  


  
Doesn't the Memory Box cardstock work perfectly?  And imagine how pretty those embossed papers would be on your creations!  I hope you will use your Memory Box scraps to make a reference book. Finally A Layout!

I create 6x6 layouts at least twice a month; however, they don't contain any pictures. :)  Yes, they are layouts with journaling only.  Well, my scrapbook friends on another site have a sketch challenge going on, and I decided to participate!  Oh my, it felt so good to create a layout with photos!  I really need to make myself do more "photo-containing" layouts.  Here is what I created using the new and yummy Memory Box 12x12 Jubilee and Enchanted papers:

My layout is a 9x9 instead of a 12x12 so I just cut the papers down as needed. I also used one of my favorite Memory Box stamps--Butterfly Collage {E1060}.  I stamped and embossed the butterflies then cut them out to add to my layout. I also used the same stamp on the punched flower.  Can you see it ever so slightly (it's the writing on the flower)?

Try a Sketch for Inspiration

I needed some inspiration today for my card so I started looking back at all of my old sketches!  I saw that Laura had used a sketch yesterday, and I decided I should use one of mine too!  If you want to see the sketch Laura used and to get more inspiration, look here.  :)

So, here is my sketch:

 
Now the "wavy" part on the sketch could be messy stitching, torn paper, a die cut of some sort, etc.  Use your imagination.  Here is a quick card that I made with the sketch:

Stamps:  Memory Box Birds in the Trees D1365, Memory Box Spring Branch D1363, Memory Box Let's Catch Up B883
Stamp Ink:  SU creamy caramel, Zing! brown sugar ep, VersaMark
Embellishments:  misc. ribbon

To create this card:

1.  Using VersaMark ink, stamp the Memory Box Spring Branch stamp {D1363} around the edges of a Memory Box kraft notecard.
2.  Using scraps of Memory Box Frond patterned paper and brown cardstock, tear two pieces to fit your card.
3.  Ink the edges of the Frond paper piece and wrap a piece or ribbon around the bottom of the piece.
4.  Adhere that piece only to your card.
5.  Stamp and emboss the Memory Box Birds in the Tree stamp {D1365} and the Let's Catch Up stamp {B833} onto the brown piece of cardstock.
6.  Adhere to Frond piece already on your card.
7.  Add a bow to finish.

Father's Day Card

I can't believe Father's Day is this Sunday!  Do you have a card or two made yet?  If not, I hope that today's card will help inspire you to create one.

Stamp Ink:  SU chocolate chip, Ranger clear ep
Embellishments: Cuttlebug clockworks embossing folder, misc. ribbon, Chatterbox wooden brads, sewing machine

After creating the embossed pastel birthday card the other day, I decided to use the same embossing/sanding technique for this Father's Day card. Memory Box cardstock is perfect for embossing and sanding because they have a white core! If you missed my Pastel Birthday Card with instructions, look here.  I also was inspired by a challenge I saw to create a card using something personal to someone and a favorite technique. Well, this card uses a collage of photos for my dad and my favorite technique--sewing.  :)  Here is how you can recreate this card:

1.  Cut a 5 1/4" x 4" piece of Memory Box vanilla bean cardstock.
2.  Emboss and sand then sew around the edges.
3.  Place a piece of grosgrain ribbon around the cardstock.
4.  Print a collage of photos on a 3 3/4" x 3" piece of photo paper, and adhere over the ribbon and cardstock.
5.  Sew this piece in place with zig zag stitching for fun.
6.  Add masculine brads to the upper right corner.
7.  Stamp the Memory Box Soaring Bird stamp {C1366} onto a scrap of vanilla bean cs and emboss with clear embossing powder; cut out.
8.  Use pop dots to adhere bird to lower right corner.
9.  To finish, adhere entire piece to a Memory Box dill notecard.

I had never thought about using a photo collage on a card until I saw the challenge. I knew my dad would love seeing photos of his grandchildren, wife (Mom), and son-in-law from a recent trip we all took.  Hopefully he will enjoy it, and I hope you have been inspired today!  Thanks for stopping by, and see you again soon! 
 

Pastel Birthday

Today I thought it would be fun to create a birthday card using only Memory Box cardstock instead of the Memory Box patterned paper packs.  I really had fun with this card.  So, grab your cardstock and a sanding block, and let's see how I made today's creation!

Papers:  Memory Box robin's egg, peapod, and sugar plum cardstock; Cut Cardstock white cs
Stamps:  Memory Box Happy Birthday Candle C1373, Memory Box Butterfly Twig D1351
Stamp Ink:  Memento bamboo leaves & new sprout
Embellishments: Copics YG63, G40, & RV11; sewing machine, Sizzix SU Flourish embossing plate; Spellbinders Labels One, Bazzill ribbon, KaiserCraft bliss pearls

1.  Emboss three pieces of Memory Box cardstock in any colors you choose and in any size.  Have fun with it!  I used Memory Box robin's egg, peapod, and sugar plum.
2.  After embossing, sand each piece and cut to fit your 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white card.  Hold each section together with photo tabs placed on the back.
3.  Sew around the entire edge of this piece.
4.  Add a piece of ribbon around the center of the embossed piece and adhere to your card base.
5.  Stamp the Memory Box Butterfly Twig stamp {D1351} on a separate piece of white cardstock.
6.  Color in each butterfly with your Copic markers.
7.  Cut the image out using a die of your choice. I used the Spellbinders Labels One die.
8.  Sponge the edges before removing your die.
9.  Stamp the sentiment on a scrap piece of the embossed sugar plum cardstock and adhere to your image.
10.  Adhere the image to the center of your card.
11.  Add a bow and pearls to finish!

Cupcake Birthday

Have you seen the new Memory Box Cupcake Sprinkle Surprise release?  Oh my if you haven't, look here and here!  And I had so much fun with the purple the other day, I decided to use the new release with touches of purple again!

Stamps:  Memory Box Happy Birthday Candle C1373, Memory Box Cupcake & Candle D1368
Stamp Ink:  Memento tuxedo black, Colorbox Pigment Ink citrine
Embellishments: Copics BV000 & BV04, Ellen Hutson ribbon, sewing machine  

Both of these new stamps {Happy Birthday Candle and Cupcake & Candle} have a candle on the end of each stamp.  I chose to use the candle that was on the end of the sentiment stamp.  Each candle is slightly different.  I think that's a fun addition to these stamps for sure.

Grab Some Purple {In the Frond Paper Pack}!

Okay, so I don't use purple very often.  Hmmm, maybe it's once a year.  But I couldn't pass up the beautiful purple papers in the Frond 6x6 paper pack!  I decided to add touches of purple instead of making my entire card purple.  That truly would have been too much for me! :)  Here is what I created:
 

Papers:  Memory Box Frond, Paper Trey Ink
Stamps:  Memory Box Dill Print F1356, Memory Box Very Best B1359
Stamp Ink:  SU lavender lace, VersaMark, Ranger seafoam white ep
Embellishments:  EK Success braket border punch, SEI brads, Ellen Hutson ribbon

To create this card,

1.  Cut a 3 1/2" x 3 3/4" piece of kraft cardstock.
2.  On that piece, stamp the Dill Print {F1356} image with VersaMark and emboss with Ranger seafoam white embossing powder.
3.  Mat with a 3 3/4" x 4" piece of white cardstock.
4.  Cut a 4 3/4" x 3 7/8" piece of purple Frond paper, and punch border edge along shorter side.
5.  Ink the edges of that piece in purple stamp ink, and mat onto other piece.
6.  Tie ribbon around entire 3-layered piece, and attach brads to upper corners.
7.  Mount to a 5 x 4 1/4" card.
8.  To finish, stamp sentiment onto another piece of purple Frond paper, cut out, ink, and attach to card.

I hope you will try out the Frond papers and even try using the purple papers!  For those of you that like purple, this may not be a challenge for you.  LOL! :)  It really turned out to be fun for me to use.  Enjoy your weekend!
 

Poppy Row

Today's card uses one of the new Memory Box stamps--Poppy Row {D1358} from the new Garden Journal collection.  This is the first time I have played with this stamp, and I knew I wanted to use my brayer for the background.  The inks I chose for the background really match the Memory Box Spearmint paper perfectly. I was excited about that! 
 

  

Papers:  Memory Box Spearmint, Paper Trey Ink cardstock
Stamp Ink:  SU chocolate chip, Adirondack juniper, Adirondack cloudy blue, Ranger clear ep
Stamps:  Memory Box Poppy Row D1358
Embellishments: misc. ribbon, sewing machine, Martha Stewart arch lattice border punch

Here is how I made today's card:
  
1.  Using a scrap piece of white cardstock (approx. 4" x 4" or larger), brayer the paper using Adirondack Juniper for the bottom of the paper and Adirondack Cloudy Blue for the top portion of the paper.
2.  Stamp Poppy Row {D1358} onto that piece of paper and emboss with clear embossing powder.
3.  Trim stamped image to 3" x 2 5/8".  Use scraps to punch a decorative border and set aside.
4.  Cut a 3 1/4" x 5" piece of black cardstock.
5.  Adhere the stamped image to the top portion of the black cardstock.
6.  Attach decorative border set aside in Step 3 one half inch below the stamped image.
7.  Tie ribbon around black cardstock at the top of the decorative border.
8.  Approx. 3/4" down from the decorative border, tear off the remaining edge of black cardstock.
9.  Cut a 4" x 5" piece of Memory Box Spearmint (striped) paper.
10.  Mat with black cardstock, and sew around the edges.
11.  Adhere the stamped image with the decorative border and ribbon to this piece.
12.  Cut a 4 1/2" x 11" piece of white cardstock and score in half for your card base.
13.  Attach entire image to your cardbase to finish.
